LIFESAVER DAY SET
FOR APRIL 20; HOSPITALS
TO OFFER FREE HEALTH
SCREENINGS                         For Immediate Release:  April 4, 1996


     Montgomery County residents can receive free CPR (cardio-pulmonary
resuscitation) training and health screenings on Saturday, April 20 at Quince
Orchard High School in Gaithersburg during the 4th annual "Lifesaver Day,"
from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  
     Sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Fire and Rescue
Services and the Montgomery County Medical Society, the three-hour training
classes will be provided every 30 minutes.  The classes will focus on one-
person CPR and how to care for a conscious or unconscious choking victim. 
Classes follow American Heart Association guidelines for CPR education.
     In addition, participants and their family members can receive free
health screenings, including blood pressure, body fat, cholesterol, and
cardiac risk appraisals.  The screenings, as well as other health information
and displays, will be provided by Holy Cross, Montgomery General, Shady Grove
Adventist, Suburban and Washington Adventist hospitals.
     Quince Orchard High School is located at the intersection of Darnestown
Rd. (Route 28) and Quince Orchard Rd.
