CHRISTMAS TREE
RECYCLING SCHEDULE
ANNOUNCED BY COUNTY For Immediate Release:
Dec. 15, 1995

Residents with blue bin recycling service may put out their
Christmas trees for curbside pickup -- with their other
recyclables -- from December 26 through January 31. Trees -- and
all recyclables -- must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m.

Because Christmas trees are composted or chipped for mulch,
they must be in a natural state when collected. Please remove
the metal stand and all decorations, including lights, ornaments,
tinsel and garlands. There should be no metal attached to the
trees.

Trees cannot be left at curbside in plastic bags. "Live"
Christmas trees with root balls and artificial trees cannot be
collected.

Residents in condominiums and multi-family units should
check with their property managers for specific instructions.

Residents can also recycle branches and needles at home by
placing them under trees and shrubs as a temporary winter mulch,
or chop them up and add them to the compost pile.

For more information on Christmas tree recycling, call the
Division of Solid Waste Services at 217-2770.
