HOURS TO INCREASE
AT FIVE PUBLIC LIBRARIES            	For Immediate Release:
					     December 22, 1995


	The hours at five public libraries will increase beginning
Monday, January 8, 1996.

	Davis, Germantown, Olney and White Oak Community Libraries
will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.;
Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;  and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

	The Poolesville Branch Library will be open Monday through
Wednesday from 2 to 8:30 p.m and Thursday through Saturday, 10
a.m. to 5 p.m.

	County Executive Douglas M. Duncan said the increase in
hours "is a further part of our commitment to helping to ensure
that the County's public library system continues to be
responsive to the needs of the many residents who use their local
libraries."

	Director of Public Libraries Agnes Griffen said, "The
increaaed hours are a direct result of County Executive Duncan's
initiative and interest in providing increased service in all
parts of Montgomery County.

	"We are delighted that residents in the areas served by
these five libraries will have expanded access to the resources
and services we provide."

	Following is a list of the five libraries and their
locations:
	- Davis Community Library, 6400 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda;
	897-2200;
	- Germantown Community Library, 12900 Middlebrook Rd.
	(UpCounty Service Center), Germantown; 217-3320;
	- Olney Community Library, 3500 Olney-Laytonsville Rd.,
	Olney; 570-1232;
	- Poolesville Branch Library, 19633 Fisher Ave. (Poolesville
	Town Center), Poolesville; 972-7800; and
	- White Oak Community Library, 11701 New Hampshire Ave.,
	Silver Spring; 622-2492.
