 DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS 
 FOR JUVENILE COURT
 COMMITTEE VACANCIES                     For Immediate Release (March 1, 1996)
 
      County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is currently seeking applicants to
 fill nine vacancies on the Juvenile Court Committee.  Four members are
 eligible for reappointment.  One vacancy is for a partial-term and will be
 filled by a youth representative.  
      The committee advises the County Executive, County Council and Juvenile
 Court on matters concerning juveniles.  It is responsible for keeping both
 legislators and citizens informed about juvenile needs.  The committee also is
 responsible for promoting the general welfare of juveniles under the
 jurisdiction of the court; for making budget recommendations affecting
 juvenile justice programs; and for making periodic visits to facilities in the
 State that serve County juveniles.
      Members serve three-year terms without compensation.  Meetings are held
 the third Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville.
      Applicants should write by March 22 to County Executive Douglas M.
 Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St., Rockville, MD  20850. 
 A brief resume, with work and home phone numbers, should be enclosed.  Members
 of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one
 such group at a time.
      Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
 Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
 confirmation process.
