APRIL IS KEEP MONTGOMERY
COUNTY BEAUTIFUL MONTH For Immediate Release: April 4, 1996

April is "Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Month" and the KMCB task
force is urging local residents and community groups to set aside Saturday,
April 20 as a special day to beautify their communities and undertake
neighborhood clean-up efforts.
"By designating April 20 as 'Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Day,' we
hope to encourage as many of our residents as possible to get outside and help
to beautify their neighborhoods," said Graham J. Norton, Director of the
County's Department of Public Works and Transportation, and chair of the KMCB
task force. "They can do this not only through spring plantings and gardening
efforts, but also through litter clean-ups and other such projects."
The KMCB task force is placing a special emphasis this year on the
removal of illegal signs posted in public right-of-ways.
Groups which are planning beautification projects or clean-up activities
are encouraged to contact the KMCB program hotline at 217-2638, so that they
can be recognized for their efforts. Special trash collection arrangements
may be made for groups that organize large litter clean-ups.
Individuals who want to participate in an April 22 litter clean-up
project of the KMCB task force should call 217-2638. TTY/TDD users can call
217-6563 to request information from the Keep Montgomery County Beautiful
program.
