Lower County Leaf Collection To Begin on March 18

LOWER COUNTY LEAF COLLECTION
TO BEGIN ON MARCH 18                     For Immediate Release: March 8, 1996


     The one-time leaf collection planned for the leaf vacuuming areas of the
lower county will begin on March 18.  Yellow signs announcing the collection
have been posted along streets in the area.
     According to Montgomery Division of Public Works officials, the
collection will be completed within three to four weeks.
     "Because we were unable to complete our annual collection late last year
due to the extraordinary weather conditions, we scheduled this one-time only
spring collection," said John Thompson, Division of Public Works chief.
     The leaf vacuuming district is bounded by I-270, Norbeck, Bel Pre and
Bonifant roads, Northwest Branch Park, and the District of Columbia and Prince
George's County lines. 
     There will also be a Countywide street sweeping in the spring to remove
abrasives left over from de-icing efforts, along with other winter street
debris.
     Residents who have leaf-related questions may call 217-2159, weekdays
between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
