DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
LANDLORD-TENANT COMMISSION              For Immediate Release (March 26, 1996) 



     Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to
fill five vacancies on the Montgomery County Commission on Landlord-Tenant
Affairs.  The vacancies consist of the following categories:  one landlord
representative, one alternate landlord representative, one tenant              
representative, one unexpired alternate tenant representative, and one public-
at-large representative.  Members serve three-year terms without compensation. 
The unexpired alternate tenant slot expires in June 1998.  Three members are
eligible for reappointment.
     The nine-member commission hears landlord-tenant disputes and recommends
legislation on multi-family and single-family housing issues.  There are also
three alternate members.   Members are required to complete and file an annual
confidential financial disclosure statement.  Meetings are held the first
Tuesday evening of each month and as needed throughout the month.
     Applicants for these vacancies must be Montgomery County residents. 
Landlord representatives should either be landlords or nominated by an
organization representing landlords, and tenant representatives should either
be tenants or nominated by an organization that represents tenants.

LANDLORD-TENANT COMMISSION VACANCIES                         2-2-2-2

     Interested citizens should write no later than April 12 to County
Executive Douglas Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St.,
Rockville, MD  20850.  A letter and brief resume, including work and home
phone numbers should be included.  Members of County boards, committees, and
commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
