BOARD MEMBERS SOUGHT FOR
PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL For Immediate Release: March 24, 1995

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants from
the local business community to fill upcoming vacancies on the Private
Industry Council (PIC). The PIC is a volunteer board of 25 trustees who
represent business and industry; organized labor; community-based
organizations; educational, social service and economic development agencies.
"This is an exciting opportunity for interested, qualified and committed
individuals to help determine how funds are spent in the county that affect
the needs of both county residents and businesses," said John Zeller,
Executive Director of the Private Industry Council. "Board members are
expected to have a strong understanding of the job market, the business
environment and job creation."
The PIC's role is to plan, administer and coordinate job training
programs for economically disadvantaged adults and youth, consistent with
federal, state and local legislation. The PIC also serves as a contact point
in the local employment and training system to present the private sector's
recommendations for making programs responsive to local employment needs.
Meetings are held every other month on the third Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
in Rockville. In addition, members are expected to serve on at least one
committee which meets monthly at a separate time and location. Members are
expected to actively participate an average of four to five hours per month.
