WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED
ON PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS, APPEALS For Immediate Release: Dec. 8, 1995
Montgomery County residents who would like to learn more about the
State's property tax assessment process are invited to attend one of two
workshops scheduled in January.
The workshops, which will also cover the appeals process, will be held
on January 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and January 30 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in
the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street,
Rockville.
Sponsored by the County's Department of Finance, the workshops will
explain how a property value assessment is determined and how the appeal
process works.
Assessment notices will be mailed on December 29 to residential property
owners in election district 10 (Potomac) and parts of election district 7
(Bethesda), 8 (Olney), and 13 (Silver Spring, Wheaton and Aspen Hill).
Notices will also be issued to owners of commercial and condominium
properties in election district 1 (Laytonsville), 2 (Clarksburg), 3
(Poolesville), 5 (Colesville), 6 (Darnestown), 7 (Bethesda), 8 (Olney) 10
(Potomac), 11 (Barnesville), and 12 (Damascus).
Property owners who believe an appeal is warranted have 45 days from the
date of the assessment notice to file and appeal with the State Supervisor of
Assessments for Montgomery County.
