COUNTY OFFERS RESIDENTS
SEASONAL RECYCLING REMINDERS For Immediate Release: February 7, 1996

Montgomery County residents who receive blue bin recycling collection
service are reminded to remove all snow from their bins before placing them
out for pickup. Snow and ice accumulation damages the Recycling Center
equipment which causes delays in processing recyclable materials.
"Our repeated winter storms have caused all kinds of problems. We
appreciate your cooperation and assistance with the recycling program," said
Bob Willson, Department of Transportation manager of the Recycling Center.
The County's Division of Solid Waste Services also reminds residents not
to put their recyclables in plastic bags. The Recycling Center equipment
cannot process plastic bags. When their blue bins are full, residents should
put additional recyclables in a box or reusable container marked "Recycle."
For questions about recycling, call the Recycling Hotline at 590-0046,
weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m.; for questions about collection service, call 217-
2410.
