RESIDENTS URGED TO GET INVOLVED
IN TRANSPORTATION ACTION GROUPS For Immediate Release: Feb. 9, 1996
Got a concern about a transportation-related issue in your neighborhood?
Don't sit back passively -- take action! That's what the Montgomery County
Department of Transportation encourages local residents to do through its
regional action groups.
"Our transportation action groups allow us to address community concerns
at their earliest level," said DOT Director Graham J. Norton. "Our objective
is to get citizens involved at the problem-solving stage so that we can better
respond to the needs in their neighborhoods."
Action groups are in place to serve the areas of Bethesda, Colesville,
Germantown, Silver Spring and Wheaton/Glenmont. In addition to the five
transportation-oriented action groups, the department also sponsors an
Environmental Advisory Group, the Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Task Force,
the Keep Montgomery County Moving Committee, and a Bicycle Action Group.
Some of the groups meet monthly and others meet every other month.
Residents who would like to join one of the groups should call 217-2638.
Anyone is welcome to attend and participate in the meetings.
Meeting times and locations for the advisory groups are as follows:
o Bethesda Action Group -- Meets on the first Friday of each month,
from 8-9 a.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce,
