PART OF SEVEN LOCKS ROAD
TO BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED
FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT For Immediate Release: March 6, 1996
A section of Seven Locks Road in Bethesda will be closed for
approximately nine months, beginning March 18, while construction takes place
on a County project to improve the road, between River Road and Bradley
Boulevard. During construction, most traffic will follow a detour using River
Road and Bradley Boulevard.
The Seven Locks Road closure marks the beginning of the second phase of
the realignment project. The project includes construction of a 26-foot-wide,
undivided roadway and the addition of a six-foot bicycle path on the west
side. The first phase of the project included realignment of Seven Locks Road
between River Road and Lonesome Pine Lane.
During the construction process, signs will be posted along the Seven
Locks Road detour route. Electronic variable message signs will also be used
to assist motorists.
