DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
TO FILL BOARD OF SOCIAL
SERVICES VACANCIES                      For Immediate Release (March 8, l996)


     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill three
vacancies on the Montgomery County Board of Social Services.  One vacancy is
for a partial term expiring in June 1998.  Two of the incumbents are eligible
for reappointment.  The nine-member local board advises the Department of
Health and Human Services and the local director of Social Services on public
assistance and social service matters.
     Members serve three-year terms without compensation and meet the first
Monday at 6:30 p.m. of each month in Rockville.
     Applicants should write by March 29 to County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St., Rockville, MD  20850. 
A brief resume, including work and home phone numbers, should be included. 
Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more
than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
