Age, Licensure, and Length of Service pre-requisites must be met by the start date of the course.

Certification pre-requisites must be listed in PCAP or PIMS by the registration close date.  
Contact the Registrar with questions regarding PSTA transcripts.

NOTE:  For ALL apparatus operator courses each student must submit a non-certified copy of their motor vehicle driving record prior to the start of practical exercises on public roadways.  This usually occurs by the second or third session of the course.  Students who do not provide the information in a timely manner or whose record does not meet the criteria per MCFRS Policy 23-07AMII will not be permitted to participate in the course.

EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATORS COURSE (EVOC)

Prerequisites EVOC

  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Possess a valid non-provisional Maryland Class 'C' License or Out-of-State equivalent
  • IECS certified Firefighter I or EMS  Provider 1
  • Obtain charge status on BLS unit
  • At least six (6) months MCFRS affiliation.

Prerequisites EVOC Equivalency

  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Possess a valid non-provisional Maryland Class 'C' License or Out-of-State equivalent
  • Provide proof of MFRI Emergency Vehicle Operator Course completion by close of registration.
  • Provide copy of non-certified driving record by close of registration.

CLASS "B" APPARATUS DRIVERS

Prerequisites Class B

  • Must be at least 20 years old
  • Possess a valid non-provisional Maryland Class 'C' License or Out-of-State equivalent
  • IECS certified Firefighter II
  • EMS Unit Driver for 1 year
  • 2 years MCFRS experience
  • Pumps & Hydraulics or Rescue Technician (both courses) or Aerial Operations Course

CLASS "A" APPARATUS DRIVERS

  • Aerial Operations Course

 

Surface Water Boat Crew Member

  • Current Passing MCFRS Physical
  • Ability to Pass a Basic Swimming Ability Evaluation
  • Rescue Technician - Site Operations
  • Candidates assigend to stations with boats will be given seating preference.

  • Sruface Water Boat Crew Certification (Reflected in Telestaff)
  • Proof of Completion of USCG or MD DNR Safe Boater Course

 

Swiftwater Rescue Technician
