Silver Spring Urban District
The Silver Spring Urban District provides special services to the Central Business District to ensure that downtown Silver Spring is maintained in a clean, safe and attractive manner to promote a vibrant social and business climate and to ensure long-term economic viability and vitality. These services include security, streetscape maintenance, tree maintenance, sidewalk repairs, marketing, and promotions and events. The approved FY06 Operating budget for the Silver Spring Urban District is $2,683,000. The Silver Spring Urban District sponsors a summer concert series, the Silver Spring Jazz Festival, the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade, and other events to attract people to come to downtown Silver Spring.
