Comcast has started delivering Maryland Public Television in a digital format, and now carries all three MPT channels, MPT, MPT 2 and V-ME (Spanish-language). MPT and Comcast reached agreement for Comcast to carry all three MPT channel offerings beginning in April by migrating the primary MPT channel off of the analog tier and delivering all three channels in a digital format. Comcast was permitted to drop MPT from their basic analog tier because WETA is considered the primary public broadcasting station in this designated market area (DMA).
Subscribers who have a digital TV with a QAM tuner can view all three MPT channels on a fractional designation of channel 106 without Comcast digital converter box equipment. Try manually entering channel 106 and use the channel up selector to view MPT channels. Additionally, you may need to auto-program your digital television to capture all the digital channels available. All three MPT channels can be viewed off air (without cable) when using a DTV converter box and an analog TV not connected to cable, or by using a digital television with a QAM tuner.
