The Center has a Citizens Advisory Board which works with the Center Director to provide the County Executive and the County Council with a balanced assessment of area problems and their potential solutions.
On-Going Programs and Services
SARAH (Senior Assistance Resources And Help) --
Programs and activities to support and complement the older population in East County.
JOAN (Job Opportunities Assistance Network) --
A job information system which uses as one of its' tools, "ALEX" the state's on-line job services. This service helps to make all citizens of East County aware of available jobs.
FOCUS--
The Center's educational initiatives and partnerships program with local colleges and universities, County Government and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide on-site educational and enrichment opportunities for local residents.
ECANN (East County Area Neighborhood Network) --
An expanded effort representing schools, government, businesses and civic groups working toward common goals and resolving issues on behalf of the eastern area.
EMEAN (East Montgomery Emergency Assistance Network) --
The Center coordinates with the Eastern Montgomery Emergency Assistance Network to provide emergency food, shelter and clothing to area (zip codes 20903, 20904, 20905, 20866, and 20868) residents in need. Call 301/879-2688 to leave a message.
MCPS -- Department of Alternative Programs --
ABE/GED and ESOL classes are held at the Center Monday through Thursday. Please phone 301/929-2025 for information regarding class placement and registration.
Montgomery College -- Office of Continuing Education --
Provides four classes at the site during the fall and spring semesters. Please call the Office of Continuing Education at 301/353-7871 for course offerings, class schedules and user fees.
