Pro Bono Consultant Program
The Pro Bono Consultant Program is a unique program:
- Volunteer opportunities are “short-term projects” ( usually lasting no more than a 3 months – some as short as a few hours) defined by community non-profits and public agencies
- Each project is defined by outcomes, timeframes and resources available.
- Volunteer’s expert skills, knowledge and experience are matched to projects and agencies for a good fit.
- Most work can be performed at home, at agency site or other locations – a lot of flexibility!
- The availability of the volunteer, as well as the timeframe needed by the agency, are kept as flexible as possible.
- Potential volunteers are interviewed and experience verified by Volunteer Center staff. Projects are reviewed prior to acceptance, to ensure that the project meets program timeframe and other guidelines.
- Once a volunteer is interviewed, he/she selects a project(s) that they are interested in learning more about and a meeting is arranged. This meeting is a chance for each party to discuss their needs, design project parameters, etc – there is no obligation to accept any particular project.
- Throughout the project, the Volunteer Center remains in contact, working with the volunteer and the agency to ensure a successful completion.
- At the project’s conclusion, the provider (volunteer) and agency constructively evaluate the results.
- Projects may lead to other Pro-Bono Consultant Program projects with other agencies, to broader opportunities or continued relationship between the consultant and the agency- or this may be a one-time project – it’s up to you!
