Montrose Parkway
East — back to top
Last week, the next step in building Montrose Parkway East was taken
when residents and property owners had an opportunity to discuss plans
for the new road with engineers from the County’s Department
of Public Works and Transportation. Montrose Parkway East will connect
Parklawn Drive with Viers Mill Road, providing additional east-west
travel options, and eventually connecting with Montrose Parkway West,
which will extend all the way to I-270.

Potholes — back
to top
It’s that time of year again when freezing and thawing weather
combined with rain and snow create the ideal conditions to foster a whole
new season of potholes. Now you can help keep our road network in tip-top
shape by reporting any potholes you see. Just go to the County’s
website at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dpwt, and click on ‘Pothole
Repair.’ While on the Department of Public Works and Transportation’s
website, you can also get information about the roads and streets scheduled
for resurfacing this year, as well as which sidewalks, curbs and gutters
will be repaired or replaced.
Taxi Reform Legislation — back
to top
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan has proposed a dramatic
overhaul of the way the County regulates taxicabs, submitting legislation
that will improve customer service by setting performance goals and
standards for cab companies and drivers, as well as increase competition
by making more taxicab licenses available. The new legislation will
reward good performance and allow the County to penalize poor performers.
To view the legislation, go to www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dpwt and
click on ‘Proposed
Taxicab Reform.’
