Project Description The
project provides for the planning and design of a new building to
replace the Dennis Avenue Health Center located at 2000 Dennis Avenue,
Silver Spring, Maryland. The new 51,000 gross square foot
building is expected to be located on the existing site adjacent to the
existing building.
The existing facility, which was built in the 1960s as an elementary school, is outdated, undersized in capacity, does not meet ADA standards, and is not configured to serve as a health center. Key building systems such as structural system, exterior walls, elevators, roof, HVAC and electrical system have surpassed their useful service life. The new 52,000 gross square feet facility will provide all the program’s space requirements without loss of vital health services during construction. Funding Public Meetings

February 22, 2012 - COMMUNITY MEETING ON THE DESIGN OF DENNIS AVENUE HEALTH CENTER Project Status The Dennis Avenue Health Center is in the Preliminary Design phase. Grimm + Parker Architects and Wilmot Sanz Inc. (a joint venture) is under contract for A/E services. Currently the project is in Design Development Phase. A 2nd Community Meeting was held on May 9, 2012 at the Mid-County Regional Service Center located at 2424 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902.
