Project Description: The
Germantown Indoor Swim Center opened in 2006. Interior paint
on the ceiling of the facility began to fail and flake off from the
surface almost immediately and has continued to fall. The
Center will be closed from May 8, 2011 through September 5, 2011 so
that the failed paint can be removed, the surfaces properly prepared
and a new high performance paint coating can be applied. The
project requires extensive scaffolding to be erected inside the swim
center to allow workers access to the building ceiling. The
failed paint will be removed completely by sand
blasting. Surface preparation consists of profiling
the surface, chemical etching and a thorough cleaning. The
paint product being applied is a high performance epoxy coating
especially suited to the warm, humid, high chlorine pool
environment. The completed surface will be thoroughly tested
for paint film thickness and adhesion.
Funding: Project Status: The Contractor has completed all work and the Germantown Indoor Swim Center is operating normally.
