Description
The
new
one-story Germantown-Milestone Station 34 will provide direct
emergency response services to a 12.7 square-mile area that includes
Milestone,
Neelsville, Fox Chapel, and Middlebrook, as well as the Ridge Road
Recreation
Park.
This
new station will help to improve emergency response
times in the East
Germantown area
of the County,” said
Councilmember Phil Andrews, chair of the Council’s Public
Safety
Committee.
“This is crucial to saving lives and property because fires
grow
exponentially
and seconds can make a life or death difference in medical
emergencies.”
The
22,200 square-foot facility will include four drive-through apparatus
bays, along with administrative and living space. The station was
designed by LeMay Erickson Wilcox Architects and will be built by
Callas Contractors, Inc. at a cost of approximately $16.2 million. The
Grand Opening of Station 34 is scheduled for September 11, 2010.
