Project Description: This
project provides for
the
design and construction of a new fire-rescue station at the
county-owned site located at the northwest intersection of Darnestown
and Shady Grove Road and the purchase of associated apparatus. The new
fire/rescue station is necessary in this area due to present and future
population density and development. The site evaluation was based on
the Program of Requirements and took into account the Gaithersburg West
Master Plan, access for fire apparatus, zoning, parking, storm water
management, and other construction requirements.
Project Status: The project is at design phase. The
project was
submitted for Mandatory Referral process and approval to Maryland-
National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) on May 28,
2010.
The Planning Board approves with conditions of Mandatory Referral, Preliminary Forest Conservation Plan, Preliminary Water Quality Plan, and Abandonment of the Public Right of Way on July 29, 2010. Site, Utilities and Building Permits are in process. Construction is currently anticipated to start in Spring 2012. Funding: |
