EASTERN MONTGOMERY REGIONAL SERVICES CENTER

June 2006

CLERGY LUNCHEON

Thirty leaders of faith congregations attended a Clergy Leaders Luncheon on May 23rd to learn about community issues and express their concerns.  The luncheon, hosted by the Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center and the East County Citizens Advisory Board, provided the faith community of East County a forum for information on immigration, safety and security and the status of Katrina affects.  Guest speakers included County Council Vice President Marilyn Praisner, County Chief of Police J. Thomas Manger, and Gilchrest Center Director Elizabeth Ortega-Lohmeyer.  Following the presentations, clergy leaders discussed and shared key issues of concern to them.  The event was seen as a significant benefit and attendees asked that it be repeated on a semi-annual basis.

A very special thank you goes out to Eggspectation restaurant, downtown Silver Spring, for their generous contribution to the Clergy Luncheon event.
