The Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center is pleased to announce that the 3rd Annual East County Student ART SHOW proved to be a huge success, attracting over 400 people on Saturday, April 29th to the Fairland Recreation/Community Center. Guest artists Don Woodruff and Simmie Knox were truely inspiring as were the 140 pieces of artwork on display from East County Schools. The photographs here capture some of the great activities and wonderful atmosphere of this year's Art Show.

We thank the Fairland Recreation/Community Center and the Fairland Library for partnering to put on this wonderful community event for the third straight year. A special thanks also goes Suntrust Bank, FastFrame (Colesville), Starbucks (Burtonsville), Patches Gift Shop (Colesville), Ledo Piza (Colesville) & the Score Educational Center for their contributions in sponsoring this year's Art Show.
Caregivers Conference
This year's annual Caregivers Conference is Set for Wednesday, May 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road in Rockville
This year's Conference theme is: The Reality of Poverty in Montgomery County 10 Years: Our Progress...Our Challange

RIDE-ON News
The Department of Public Works and Transportation has announced that for the 13th consecutive month, ridership on the County's Ride On bus service has surpassed 2 million. The March ridership total was 2,570,000. For the 23rd consecutive month there has been an increase in ridership from the same month the previous year.
We congratulate all of the East County residents who continue to use the Ride-On transi t system, specially in these times of high energy prices and high traffic congestion.
Obtain more information on Ride On service near you by calling the Transit Information Center at 240-777-7433. You can plan your trip using the free "Ride Guide" by visiting Ride On’s website.

Fairland Library May Events
EVENING ADULT BOOK DISCUSSION: Join our group in discussing Jimmy Carter’s OUR ENDANGERED VALUES, his personal consideration of “moral values” as they relate to the important issues of the day. Please register and pick up the book at the Information Desk. Wednesday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
PC HINTS provides individual or small group sessions for those who want to get more out of using computers at home or at the Library. Request an appointment by telephone (240-773-9460) or at the Information Desk for Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on May 2, 9, 16 and 23, or for Saturdays at 9 a.m. on May 6, 13 and 20.
PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Join us for stories, songs and fingerplays on Fridays May 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. No registration required.

New Traffic Patterns
New traffic circle on Old Columbia Pike
The construction of a Roundabout at the intersection of Old Columbia Pike and Perry Wood Drive has begun. This project is Phase III of roadway and sidewalk improvements being put into place along Old Columbia Pike. For questions about this project please contact the members of the project team.

Residents and guests are invited to attend as the first 15 minutes of each meeting are reserved for Residents to address their concerns to the ECCAB. |
