About the Center


Location, hours, service area boundaries, bus service

THE EASTERN MONTGOMERY REGIONAL SERVICES CENTER 
is one of five Regional Services Centers (Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Eastern Montgomery County, Mid-County, Silver Spring, and Upcounty) strategically located in various regions of the County to bring County government closer to its residents.

The Center functions as a link to the County Executive's Office. It offers problem-solving assistance to neighborhoods, individuals, businesses, and County agencies. It also coordinates direct service delivery, focusing on the particular needs of each region; and works with a regional Citizens Advisory Board appointed by the County Executive and approved by the County Council.

This is a new facility which also houses a satellite office for Health & Human Services & a County Police sub-station.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY AREA BOUNDARIES

The boundaries of the service area include the Master Plan areas of Cloverly, Fairland, and White Oak. The area is roughly bound on the west by the Northwest Branch, on the north by Ednor Road, in the east by the Howard County and Prince George's County lines, and on the south by I-495.

LOCATION

The Center is located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, on the corner of Briggs Chaney Road and Robey Road.

From the beltway take exit 31-N Columbia - travel north on Colesville Road (Rte 29).
Take the Briggs Chaney Road exit, bear right onto Briggs Chaney Road. Travel 2 blocks and make a left on Robey Road, go 50 feet then turn right into the Center's parking lot. (You can also enter from Gateshead Manor Way.) 


HOURS OF OPERATION

The Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

BUS SERVICE

From the Silver Spring Metro, take the bus marked Z-11/Z13 Greencastle-Briggs Chaney or Z6 Tanglewood-West Farm.  From the Glenmont Metro Station, take the Ride-On #39 only during rush hour. For further information regarding transportation to our Center please check http://www.wmata.com/

Services and Agencies at the Center

The Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center functions as a link to the County Executive's Office; coordinates policy making and service delivery that focus on the particular needs of the East County area; and offers problem solving assistance to neighborhoods, individuals, business, and County agencies.

The Center has a Citizens Advisory Board which works with the Center Director to provide the County Executive and the County Council with a balanced assessment of area problems and their potential solutions.

On-Going Programs and Services

Redball Bullet SARAH (Senior Assistance Resources And Help) --
Programs and activities to support and complement the older population in East County.
Redball Bullet JOAN (Job Opportunities Assistance Network) --
A job information system which uses as one of its' tools, "ALEX" the state's on-line job services. This service helps to make all citizens of East County aware of available jobs.
Redball Bullet FOCUS--
The Center's educational initiatives and partnerships program with local colleges and universities, County Government and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide on-site educational and enrichment opportunities for local residents.
Redball Bullet ECANN (East County Area Neighborhood Network) --
An expanded effort representing schools, government, businesses and civic groups working toward common goals and resolving issues on behalf of the eastern area.
Redball Bullet EMEAN (East Montgomery Emergency Assistance Network) --
The Center coordinates with the Eastern Montgomery Emergency Assistance Network to provide emergency food, shelter and clothing to area (zip codes 20903, 20904, 20905, 20866, and 20868) residents in need. Call 301/879-2688 to leave a message.
Redball Bullet MCPS -- Department of Alternative Programs --
ABE/GED and ESOL classes are held at the Center Monday through Thursday. Please call 301/929-2025 for information regarding class placement and registration.
Redball Bullet Montgomery College -- Office of Continuing Education --
Provides four classes at the site during the fall and spring semesters. Please call the Office of Continuing Education at 301/353-7871 for course offerings, class schedules and user fees.
