RSVP - Responding to the Call to Serve


 

  Thank you to the community partners and volunteers that take part in Montgomery County’s RSVP program!

RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, is a nationwide volunteer program through Senior Corps for individuals age 55+ which is sponsored locally by the Montgomery County Volunteer Center. RSVP assists seniors in finding interesting and rewarding volunteer opportunities based on their skills, interests, life experience, geographic preference and time availability. Currently, over 800 RSVP members volunteer locally in a wide variety of local public and private nonprofit organizations throughout the county. RSVP volunteers can:

- Improve the environment
- Write grant proposals
- Help the homeless
- Be mentors

- Tutor children
- Promote literacy
- Help low-income seniors prepare their taxes    - Help children and adults learn English

RSVP Signature Programs include: 

 

    v     RSVP/AARP Tax-Aide Program trains over 100 senior volunteers to  
                       prepare free income tax returns for low- and moderate-income 

                       citizens, with special attention to seniors 60 and over.  2011 Tax Aide flyer

v     Pro Bono Consultant Program matches skilled professionals with local nonprofit organizations to work on short-term projects that deliver tangible outcomes.

v     Bone Builders trains volunteers to lead free exercise programs designed to improve strength and balance for people with osteoporosis.
