Database and Outreach Advisor
The Volunteer Center's Advisors use our online database to help individuals find volunteer opportunities and nonprofits find volunteers. On the phone, by e mail, and in person, Advisors help agencies and individuals maximize the use of our online database and other Volunteer Center services. Advisors work in our office as well as out in the community at speaking engagements and volunteer fairs.
This is a great time to join our team as we as we transition to a new database built on the Salesforce platform in the summer of 2011. Come learn the new system with us. We will be relying on volunteers to help us provide great tech support for all our nonprofit and volunteer customers!
Advisors will work with a great team of volunteers, meet people of all ages from many different backgrounds who are passionately working for various causes and have the opportunity to impact the community by encouraging and facilitating volunteering.
Time commitment: 5 – 10 hours a week. 1 year commitment is preferred. Orientation and training will be provided.
Pro Bono Consultant Program Assistant
The Pro Bono Consultant Program of the Montgomery County Volunteer Center matches skilled, experienced professionals with local nonprofits for short-term projects. There are usually 30 - 50 volunteers working on projects at any given time. A program support volunteer is needed to assist the Program Coordinator in managing the program and ensuring that both the volunteers and nonprofits are being served completely.
Key responsibilities include processing new volunteer applications and project proposal forms, interviewing and screening volunteers, matching volunteers and projects, and performing monthly check-ins to verify status of projects.
This is a great opportunity to network with local nonprofits and county government agencies, learn about volunteerism in the county, meet professionals from a variety of professional backgrounds, and gain expereince in program management.
Time commitment: 6 – 10 hours a week. 1 year commitment is preferred. Orientation and training will be provided.
Volunteer Project Development (Internship Possibility)
Help develop meaningful projects with our partners to make an impact in strategic areas during Montgomery County’s Community Service Week. Community Service Week is October 16-22 and is being held in honor of Montgomery County’s 25th Anniversary of Community Service Day, an annual day of service throughout Montgomery County. The goal of Community Service Day is to engage new people in service and recognize those who are already serving as well as meet needs in our community. Our goal this year is to engage 25,000 volunteers throughout the week!
Key responsibilities include identifying our partners who could develop successful projects to engage volunteers during Community Service Week, working with the partners to develop impactful projects to be completed by volunteer, assisting in posting the project on our online database for volunteers to be able to register for, and leading trainings for volunteers interested in leading projects
We are looking for an experienced volunteer who is friendly and personable, organized, comfortable with computers and Microsoft programs. Time commitment: 20-35 hours per week
