Heat

Prolonged exposure to extreme heat and humidity can be dangerous. Take the following precautions when dealing with high temperatures.

Before high temperatures and humidity:

  • Check your air conditioning to ensure it is in good, working condition.
  • Weather strip doors and window sills to keep cool air in.
  • Cover windows that receive sun exposure with drapes, shades, or awnings to absorb or reflect heat.

During high temperatures and humidity:

  • Avoid spending a prolonged amount of time outdoors
  • If you do not have air conditioning, visit your local mall, library, or recreation center that has air conditioning. Drink plenty of water.
  • Check on family, friends, or neighbors that may need additional assistance during these conditions
