Heat
Prolonged exposure to extreme heat and humidity can be dangerous. Take the following precautions when dealing with high temperatures.
Before high temperatures and humidity:
- Check your air conditioning to ensure it is in good, working condition.
- Weather strip doors and window sills to keep cool air in.
- Cover windows that receive sun exposure with drapes, shades, or awnings to absorb or reflect heat.
During high temperatures and humidity:
- Avoid spending a prolonged amount of time outdoors
- If you do not have air conditioning, visit your local mall, library, or recreation center that has air conditioning. Drink plenty of water.
- Check on family, friends, or neighbors that may need additional assistance during these conditions
During these extreme conditions, listen to the radio, watch television news, and make sure you’ve signed up for Alert Montgomery to receive all the latest information.
