ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 12-29-03, at 10:23 p.m., an 18-year-old Gaithersburg man was at the bus stop at Montgomery Village Ave. and Centerway Rd. in Montgomery Village when he was approached by a suspect (B/M, 5’10”-6’0”, 140-160 lbs., white winter coat, blue jeans) who asked for money and the victim replied he had none.  Another suspect (B/M, long black coat) appeared and implied a gun. The victim took out his wallet and one of the suspects grabbed it. The suspects then walked northbound on Montgomery Village Ave. towards Club House Road.

  -On 01-01-04, at 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old Germantown man and another male were at Sweetgum Circle in Germantown in their vehicle when they were approached by a suspect. Suspect #1 (B/M, 20-22, 5’7”, 220 lbs., black stadium length jacket) displayed a handgun demanded cash.  The victim complied by passing it to Suspect #2 (B/M) who was standing at the passenger side of the vehicle. Suspect #1 demanded the car keys which he later dropped in the parking lot. Both suspects then fled on foot.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 12-31-03, at 11:05 p.m., an 84-year-old Silver Spring woman was waiting at a bus stop at Dexter Ave. and Georgia Ave in Silver Spring, when a suspect came up from behind and grabbed her purse. The suspect (B/M, 5’10”-5’11”, 175-180 lbs., all black clothing) then fled west towards the apartments on Dexter Avenue.  

            -On 12-23-03, at 8:30 p.m., a 38 year-old Olney woman had just parked and exited her vehicle in the parking lot of the 13600 block of Connecticut Ave in Aspen Hill, when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect (B/F, 20s, 5’4”, hair pulled back, green puffy jacket, heavy) attempted to take the victim’s purse. A struggle ensued and the suspect fled with out obtaining any property. The suspect got into a vehicle driven by an unknown suspect and it drove away on Connecticut Avenue.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 01-01-04, Luis Moises Urizar, age 23, of the 16900 block of White Grounds Rd. in Boyds was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and 1st Degree Assault. The arrest was a result of a stabbing incident at this address involving another resident of the house.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

             -TAIWAN INC., 4540 Montgomery Ave. in Bethesda, between 2:00 p.m. on 12-27-03 and 9:00 a.m. on 12-29-03. Broke through rear window, nothing taken.

            -KENNEDY ASSOC., 7315 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda, between 5:00 p.m. on 12-24-03 and 7:00 a.m. on 12-29-03. Front door entry, unknown amount taken.

            -FOUNTAINHEAD TITLE GROUP, 8120 Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, between 3:00 p.m. on 12-26-03 and 8:00 a.m. on 12-29-03. Forced double front door, computer, monitors taken.

            -PREMIUM FOODS (Slades Restaurant), Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. on 12-31-03. Pried off double front door, cash taken.  

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -3700 block of Decatur Ave. in Kensington, between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on 12-30-03. Pried frame on garage door, nothing taken.

            -8400 block of Freyman Dr. in Chevy Chase, between 3:00 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. on 12-30-03. Jiggled basement door, nothing taken.

 

3RD DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -FLOWER BARBER SHOP, 8721 Flower Ave. in Silver Spring, between 8:00 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 9:00 a.m. on 01-01-04. Broke out front door, cash register taken.

 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -14600 block Almanac Dr. in Burtonsville, between 1:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on 12-30-03. Pried open sliding glass door, clothes, jewelry, DVDs, TV, watch, computer taken.

            -10200 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring, between 11:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 12-30-03. Climbed through garage window, various tools taken.

 

4TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -EXCEL OIL, 13455 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring, between 4:33 a.m. and 4:36 a.m. on 12-23-03. Broke through front door, phone cards taken.  

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -1000 block of Goldmine Rd. in Brookeville, between 6:00 p.m. on 12-13-03 and 6:00 p.m. on 12-27-03. Broke out side window in barn in rear of the property, motorcycle taken.

            -Unit block of Branchwood Ct. in Sandy Spring, between 9:45 a.m. and 1:52 p.m. on 12-23-03. Broke through front door, Playstation and games taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -21600 block of Stableview Dr. in Gaithersburg, between 10:00 p.m. on 12-30-03 and 7:00 a.m. on 12-31-03. Garage door entry, nothing taken.

            -7000 block of Rocky Ed. in Gaithersburg, between 7:36 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 10:00 a.m. on 01-01-04. Broke through side door, nothing taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -RYDEX GLOBAL ADVISORS, 9601 Blackwell Rd. in Rockville, between 2:00 p.m. on 12-26-03 and 5:00 p.m. on 12-27-03. Pried frame, computers taken.

            -LAYTONSVILLE CONTRACTORS, 7917 Cessna Ave. in Gaithersburg, between 9:30 p.m. on 12-29-03 and 5:30 a.m. on 12-30-03. Unlocked front door, nothing taken.  

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -Unit block of Vineyard Haven Ct. in Montgomery Village, at 12:06 a.m. on 12-30-03. Broke through sliding glass door, Xbox and Play station 2 and games taken.

            -8800 block of Welbeck Way in Montgomery Village, between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on 12-30-03. Pried lock on front door, shirts, DVD/VCR player taken.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 12-31-03, Edwin Omar Costellon age 19, of the 3200 block of University Blvd. in Kensington was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, False Statement to a Police Officer, Destruction of Property over $500, and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was a result of an attempt burglary at the Kensington Wine & Liquor located at 3733 University Blvd. in Kensington.
