ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-02-04, at 2:00 a.m., three suspects forced there way into a home in the 3100 block of Hewitt Ave. in Wheaton. The suspects, one white male and two black males, kicked open the door. The white male suspect was armed with a shotgun. The suspects took cash and then fled the home. The suspects were wearing dark colored shirts with yellow lettering.  No further descriptions were provided of the suspects.

            -On 01-02-04, at 9:05 p.m., the Sandy Spring Store, located at 905 Olney Sandy Spring Rd., in Sandy Spring, was robbed. A lone suspect (B/M, 25-30, 5’10”-6’0”, 180-200 lbs., brown eyes, mustache, goatee, wearing dark colored clothing) entered the store carrying a long gun, maybe a shotgun. He demanded cash from the registers and the victim complied.  The suspect ran eastbound on Route 108. 

            -On 01-06-04, at 3:20 p.m., a 14-year-old Silver Spring youth was in the parking area in the 2900 block of Shepperton Terrace in Silver Spring when he was approached by a suspect. The suspect (B/M, 15-17, 5’6”, 150-160 lbs., blue jeans, grey fleece with red trim, black “wind-style” mask) inquired about a jersey which the victim was wearing.  The suspect then displayed a knife and demanded the jersey. The victim complied. The suspect ran on foot northbound on Old Columbia Pike. 

            -On 01-07-04, at 6:17 a.m., the Exxon Station, located at 19825 Frederick Ave. in Germantown, was the scene of an attempt-armed robbery. A lone suspect (B/M, 5’8”-5’10”, 180-210 lbs., jeans, white Tee shirt, black ski mask) entered the store and announced a robbery. He implied a gun in his jacket pocket. Other customers appeared in the station and the suspect fled the store without obtaining any property. 

            -On 01-02-04, at 8:20 p.m., a 40-year-old Silver Spring man was in an apartment building in the 500 block of Domer Ave. in Silver Spring when he was approached by three suspects. One suspect held the victim while another suspect took cash from the victim’s wallet. A third suspect displayed a gun. All suspects were described as Hispanic males, 20-22 years, 5’5”-5’6”, 170-200 lbs., wearing black clothing.  

            -On 01-05-04, at 6:15 p.m., a 29-year-old Gaithersburg man was in the 600 block of Westside Dr. when three suspects approached him. The suspects (B/M’s, 5’8”, 150-175 lbs., mask, gloves, dark clothing) held a knife to the victim’s throat and removed property from him. All suspects then ran on foot towards the 300 block of Westside Drive.


 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 01-05-04, at 7:00 p.m., a 55-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery near Georgia Ave. at Rippling Brook Dr., in Wheaton.  The suspect approached her from behind, knocked her to the ground, and grabbed her purse. The suspect was last seen running on Georgia Avenue towards Helsel Drive. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-29 years, 5’6”-5’7”, wearing a grayish blue knit hat, black jacket, and blue jeans. 

            -On 12-30-03, at 8:45 p.m., a 58-year-old Rockville woman was in the 13400 block of Keating St. in Rockville when a suspect approached her. The suspect (Hispanic/M, 35, 5’0”, 150 lbs., small mustache, light pants, long light colored jacket, hat) pushed the victim to the ground, took her purse and shopping bag. The suspect was last seen on Keating Street towards Parkland Drive.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 12-30-03, at 10:00 p.m., a 39 year-old Wheaton man was the victim of an aggravated assault near Georgia Ave. and Shorefield Rd., in Wheaton.  The suspect approached the victim, asked for money, and a verbal argument began.  The victim ran and was followed by the suspect and five others.  The first suspect, who was armed with a knife, attempted to stab the victim but missed.  The victim continued to run and was caught by the suspects near Lindell Street.  The suspect hit him with a belt buckle.  The suspects then left the area in an unknown direction. The first suspect was a black male, 18-22 years, 5’6”, 150 lbs., braids, wearing blue jeans and a black-hooded jacket.  The second suspect was a black male, 18-22 years, wearing dark colored clothing.  No descriptions were provided on the remaining suspects.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 01-03-04, Cynthia Ivelice Benitez, age 21, of the 13300 block of Brackley St., Silver Spring, and Leslie Cruz age 23, of the 11500 block of February Circle, Silver Spring were arrested and charged with First-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Second-Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. The arrests were a result of an incident in the unit block of N. Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg.

 

BURGLARY/ARREST 

           -On 01-04-04, Mohommed Siddique, age 19, 10800 block of Amherst Ave., Wheaton, Anwar Queen, age 25, 2100 block of Belvedere Blvd, Silver Spring, Gilson Moreau, age 26, 6500 block of Callendar Dr., Bethesda, and Sinetahe Eshete were arrested.  They were charged with Second-Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit Second-Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, and Theft Over $500.  The arrests were a result on an incident that occurred at Embroid Me, 11141 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton. 

         -On 01-07-04, Tracy O’Brien, age 32, of the 13600 block of Dunbarton Rd., Rockville, was arrested and charged with Fourth-Degree Burglary and Destruction of Property.  The arrest was the result of an incident in 3400 block of Nimitz Rd. in Kensington.

        -On 01-07-04, Joseph Beck, age 50, of the 8200 block of Colonial Lane, Silver Spring, was arrested and charged with Fourth-Degree Burglary and Trespassing.  The arrest was the result on an incident at the Fenton Group, 812 Silver Spring Ave., in Silver Spring.

            -13200 block of Query Mill Rd., Potomac, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 01-07-04. Forced open door, handgun taken.

          -19100 block of Esworthy Rd., Darnestown, between 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 01-06-03. Kicked open door,  television taken.  

 

2ND DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -CAPITAL HEALTH CARE ASSOC. INC., 4601 N. Park Ave., Chevy Chase, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. on 01-04-04. Entered business, nothing taken.

 

3RD DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -PAM’S NAIL SALON, 710 Thayer Ave., Silver Spring, between 9:00 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 10:00 a.m. on 01-02-04. Pried open door, drills and money taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -Unit block of Carters Grove Ct., Silver Spring, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. on 01-07-03.  Pried lock on door, unknown what was taken.

          -1800 block of Carters Grove Dr., Silver Spring, between 7:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 01-07-04.  Pried lock on door, cellular telephone and money taken.

          -Unit block of Carters Grove Ct., Silver Spring, between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on 01-07-04.  Pried lock on door, television, Playstation and games, and clothing taken

          -Unit block of Carters Grove Ct., Silver Spring, between 6:00 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on 01-7-04.  Pried lock on door, jewelry and money taken.

            -12400 block of Carter Grove Place, Silver Spring, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on 01-07-04. Pried lock on door, jewelry, disc player, XBOX and games, Gamecube and games, camera, and cash taken.

            -1800 block of Tufa Terr., Silver Spring, between 5:40 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. on 01-06-04. Broke out window, cash, camera,  and cell phone charger taken.

            -10200 block of Edgewood Dr., Silver Spring, between 7:00 a.m. on 01-07-04 and 10:00 p.m. on 01-08-04. Pried door in garage, nothing taken.


4th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

           -EMMANUEL BRINKLOW SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 18800 New Hampshire Ave., Ashton, between 5:30 p.m. on 12-30-03 and 11:30 a.m. on 12-31-03.  Pried door on shed, lawn equipment taken.

           -THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, 2942 Hewitt Ave., Wheaton, between 3:00 p.m. on 12-30-03 and 11:00 a.m. on 12-31-03.  Forced door, office equipment, furniture, and television taken.

           -ANNA’S NAILS, 13311 New Hampshire Ave., Colesville, between 6:00 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 8:30 a.m. on 01-01-04.  Broke out door, unknown what was taken.

           -SANDY SPRING COMMUNITY HOUSE, 17801 MeetingHouse Circle, Sandy Spring, between 9:30 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 12:00 p.m. on 01-02-04. Pried open door, money taken.

           -BURTON JOHNSON, 17600 Meeting House Rd., Sandy Spring, between 6:30 p.m. on 12-30-03 and 10:00 a.m. on 12-31-03.  Forced in door, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

          -2200 block of Georgian Woods Pl., Wheaton, between 4:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on 01-01-04.  Attempt only, pried frame on door.

          -3500 block of Harrell St., Wheaton, at 9:56 p.m. on 12-31-03.  Entered home, unknown what was taken.

          -10500 block of Georgia Ave., Wheaton, between 3:20 a.m. on 12-24-03 and 8:30 p.m. on 12-26-03.  Pried open window, jewelry and money taken.

          -3800 block of Weller Rd., Wheaton, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on 12-31-03.  Attempt only, cut through screen.

          -300 block of Soapstone Lane, Silver Spring, between 1:20 a.m. and 1:24 a.m. on 01-01-04.  Broke out window, video recorder, liquor, weapons taken.

          -2300 block of London Bridge Dr., Wheaton, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 01-04-04.  Broke out window, camera equipment, stereo equipment, and DVD’s taken.

          -2800 block of Radius Rd., Wheaton, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on 01-03-04.  Attempt only, broke out window.

          -12000 block of Lafayette Ct., Wheaton, between 2:15 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. on 01-03-04.  Broke out window, stereo equipment, Nintendo games, and jewelry taken.

          -14600 block of Woonsockett Rd., Silver Spring, between 12:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on 12-28-03.  Broke out window, weapons, television equipment, Playstation, and money taken.

          -15400 block of Holly Grove Rd., Silver Spring, between 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on 12-29-03.  Pried lock on door, unknown what was taken.

   

5TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -19900 block of Sweet Gum Circle, Germantown, between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 01-01-04. Entered home, money taken.

            -19500 block of Bowman Ridge Dr., Germantown, between 3:15 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. on 01-01-04. Broke through door, safe, jewelry, wallets, and cash taken.

            -10400 block of Maynard Ct., Damascus, between 8:00 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 10:20 a.m. on 01-06-04. Broke through window, nothing taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -SEARS DEPT. STORE, Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg, at 10:27 p.m. on 01-05-04. Hid inside after business was closed, unknown what  was taken.

            -Thomas Choice Garden condos, 19405 Brassie Place, Montgomery Village, between 6:00 p.m. on 12-31-03 and 7:30 a.m. on 01-02-04. Pried lock on door, tools taken from workshop.  

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -Unit block of School Dr., Gaithersburg, between 10:00 a.m. on 12-18-03 and 6:30 a.m. on 01-02-04. Entered home, jewelry taken.

            -8200 block of Brucar Ct., Gaithersburg, between 12:00 p.m. on 01-03-04 and 7:00 a.m. on 01-04-04. Entered shed, garden tools taken.

            -Unit block of School Dr., Gaithersburg, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on 01-03-04. Twist lock on door, purse and money taken.

          -10000 block of Stedwick Rd., Montgomery Village, between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on 01-07-04.  Pried lock on door, money taken.

          -100 block of Duvall Lane, Gaithersburg, between 3:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on 01—06-04.  Entered home, unknown what was taken.
