ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-24-04, at 1:00 p.m., a 37-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of an armed robbery in the 2200 block of Washington Ave., in Silver Spring.  As the victim was walking in a parking lot, two suspects approached her.  One suspect was armed with a handgun and he demanded money.  The victim complied.  The suspects left the area in a gold color car.  The first suspect was described as a black male, 20 to 29 years, 5’4”, 130 pounds, wearing dark clothing.  The second suspect was a black male, 20-29 years, 6’0”, 170 pounds, wearing dark clothing.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 01-22-04, at 5:30 p.m., a 78-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery in the 4400 block of Cambria Avenue in Garret Park.  The suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed her purse.  The suspect was seen running on Cambria Avenue towards Raleigh Avenue.  The suspect was described as a male, 16-18 years of age, 5’10”, wearing a black and blue jacket and blue/gray jeans. 

            -On 01-24-04, at 7:50 p.m., Kinko’s, 11560 Rockville Pike, in Rockville, was the scene of an attempted strong-arm robbery.  The suspect approached a clerk and asked for change.  When the clerk opened the register, the suspect began to walk behind the counter.  When told to stop, the suspect demanded the clerk open the register.  The clerk did not comply and the suspect walked out of the store.  The suspect was a black male, 20-29 years of age, 6’0”, 170-180 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a dark colored coat. 

            -On 01-20-04, at 12:30 p.m., an 83-year-old Bethesda woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery in the 4200 block of Knowles Avenue in Kensington.  The suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed her purse.  The victim tripped and fell to the ground.  The suspect ran with the victim’s purse.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment for a head injury.  The suspect was a black male, 20-30 years of age, wearing dark-colored clothing. 

            -On 01-23-04, at 12:41 p.m., an 84-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery in the 2700 block of University Boulevard West in Wheaton.  The suspect approached the victim from the side and grabbed her purse.  The suspect was last seen running with the victim’s purse through a parking lot.  The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans, and a blue hat.


 

ROBBERY/ARREST 

            -On 01-20-04, at 3:58 p.m., Jose Rodriquez, age 17, of the 12100 block of Centerhill Street in Wheaton, was arrested and charged as an adult with Armed Robbery and First-Degree Assault. The arrest was the result of an incident in the 2500 block of Ennalls Avenue in Wheaton.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 01-21-04, at 9:10 p.m., Carlos Ramirez, age 32, of the 1300 block of Travis View Court in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Assault and Second-Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 1300 block of Travis View Court.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 01-25-04, at 10:20 p.m., Antwan Palmer, age 21, of the 20000 block of Red Buckeye Court in Germantown, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Burglary, Third-Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, Second-Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, Theft Under $500, and Traffic charges.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 14300 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton. 

            -On 01-25-04, at 12:00 p.m., Michael Velez, age 22, of the 15900 block of Green Meadow Road in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with two counts of Fourth-Degree Burglary, three counts of Trespassing, two counts of Destruction of Property, Theft Under $500, and Possession of CDS paraphernalia.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 12300 block of Pissaro Drive in Potomac.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -BETHESDA MARRIOTT HOTEL, 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 01-23-04.  Pried frame on door, unknown what was taken.

            -THE SHARPER IMAGE, 7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda, between 8:00 p.m. on 01-20-03 and 12:00 p.m. on 01-21-04.  Entered storage area, televisions taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -100 block of Summerfield Rd., Chevy Chase, between 11:00 p.m. on 01-09-04 and 7:30 a.m. on 01-10-04.  Entered garage, bicycle taken.

            -4600 block of Hunt Ave., Chevy Chase, between unknown date and time and 10:17 a.m. on 01-21-04.  Attempt only, cut screen on door.

            -6700 block of Landon Lane, Bethesda, between 12:00 a.m. on 12-30-04 and 6:10 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Entered garage, bicycle taken.

            -3300 block of Edgewood Rd., Kensington, between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Pried open door, computer and television taken.

            -5900 block of Cedar Parkway, Chevy Chase, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. on 01-20-04.  Broke through door, jewelry and money taken.

 

3RD DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -9100 block of Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring, between 11:00 a.m. on 01-22-04 and 12:30 a.m. on 01-23-04.  Broke out window, personal identification taken

            -13500 block of Greencastle Ridge Terr., Burtonsville, between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 01-20-04.  Forced door, stereo equipment, computer equipment, and money taken.

            -9800 block of Braddock Ave., Silver Spring, between 12:15 p.m. and 12:29 p.m. on 01-21-04.  Attempt only, forced door.

            -3200 block of Tapestry Circle, Silver Spring, between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on 01-20-04.  Forced door, unknown what was taken.

 

4TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -500 block of Lamberton Dr, Wheaton, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:22 p.m. on 01-20-04. Broke out window, computers taken.

            -2300 block of Arcola Ave., Wheaton, between 6:00 a.m. on 01-01-04 and 5:00 p.m. on 01-15-04.  Broke out door, power tools taken.

            -3700 block of Bel Pre Rd., Wheaton, between 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Attempt only, pried lock on door.

            -3400 block of Floral St., Wheaton, between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 01-23-04.  Attempt only, pried window frame.

            -4000 block of Peppertree Lane, Wheaton, between 1:15 p.m. and 4:08 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Climbed through window, computer equipment, clothing, telephone, and jewelry taken.

            -2200 block of Shorefield Rd., Wheaton, between 5:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 01-23-04.  Pried window, Playstation and games, compact discs, and karaoke machine taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -18900 block of Coral Grove Terr., Germantown, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Forced open door, money taken.

            -19800 block of Maycrest Way, Germantown, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Broke out window, unknown what was taken.

            -19900 block of Stoney Point Way, Germantown, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Entered home, cellular telephone and X Box video games taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -WATKINS MILL BEER AND WINE, 857 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, at 4:41 a.m. on 01-23-04.  Forced open door, beer taken.

            -LPL FINANCIAL SERVICES, 9600 Blackwell Rd., Rockville, between 7:20 p.m. on 01-16-04 and 6:00 p.m. on 01-19-04.  Pried open door, unknown what was taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -12500 block of Carrington Hill Dr., Gaithersburg, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on 01-22-04.  Broke out window, money taken.

            -400 block of Winter Walk Dr., Gaithersburg, between 12:45 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. on 01-22-04.  Opened door, money taken.

            -400 block of Bostwick Lane, Gaithersburg, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:24 p.m. on 01-23-04.  Attempt only, pried door.

            -11900 block of Baywaters Rd., Gaithersburg, between 8:30 a.m. on 01-23-04 and 12:30 p.m. on 01-25-04.  Attempt only, lifted out window.
