Assistant Chief Betsy Davis grew
up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended Montgomery Blair High School.
After graduating from high school, she attended Towson State University
in Towson, Maryland, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree.
Betsy joined the Montgomery County Police Department in February of
1985 and started her career as a patrol officer working in the 3rd District.
While assigned to the 3rd District she served in patrol, investigations,
and with the Special Assignment Team. In 1992, she was promoted to Corporal
and assigned to the 2nd District. In 1994, she was promoted to Sergeant
and remained at the 2nd District until she became the Sergeant in charge
of the Bethesda Investigative Section in December of 1998. She was promoted
to Lieutenant in February of 2000, and served as the Deputy Commander
of the Rockville District. In June of 2001, she was selected to head
the 6th District Station until her promotion to Captain in April of
2002. She was then transferred and assigned as the Commander of the
2nd District where she served for three years. In May of 2005, she was
assigned to the Personnel Division where she served until September
of 2006, when she became Commander of the 3rd District.
In June, 2007 she had the honor of being selected by Chief J. Thomas
Manger to serve as the department's newest Assistant Chief.
Assistant Chief Davis is a life-long resident of Montgomery County,
currently living in Silver Spring.
