Collections

A citizen with Maryland tags, who has an outstanding citation 90 days past due will be submitted to collections.  A citizen with out of state tags will be submitted to collections with an outstanding citation 60 days past due.

When a citizen is submitted to collections, they will receive a notice advising they have 30 days to pay their outstanding citation in full including all applicable late/flagging fees.  Those citizens that fail to pay their outstanding citations in full during the 30 day period will receive a notice advising that their delinquent obligations have been reported to a National Credit Bureau.  Upon receipt of payment in full for their outstanding citations and the National Credit Bureau will be notified.

For citizens with $1000 or more in past due citations with Maryland tags will receive a Warning Notice of Suspension for their tags.  The citizen has 30 days to pay their outstanding citations in full or their vehicle registration will be suspended according to MVA guidelines and will be forwarded to a National Credit Bureau.

If you have any questions concerning a citation(s) submitted to collections, you may email us at Police.ATEUCollections@montgomerycountymd.gov.
