On May 9, 1978 at 8:15 pm, Robert Lee
Miller, Jr., President of Interstate Bridge Company in Monrovia, Maryland
died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. He was found inside
room 421 at the Ramada Inn located on Route 28 at IS 270 in Rockville,
Maryland. Miller was discovered by a bellboy who had gone to see if
Miller had vacated the room.
Investigators believed that Miller had gone to the Ramada Inn to meet
with an unknown person at 6:30 pm to make a bid on a construction project.
The below described suspect arrived at the Ramada Inn at 4:40 pm and
spoke with the desk clerk, and asked for Mr. Miller. The clerk directed
the suspect to room 421. The suspect was never seen again.
WANTED for questioning in the Homicide Investigation:
White male of Italian or Armenian descent, approximately 45 years
old, 5'7", 145 lbs., good physical condition (wiry build), well dressed
in a blue or black suit, red and blue striped tie, and black shoes. The
subject gave the impression he might hold an office-type job, was well-spoken,
had a ruddy complexion with acne scars around the mouth area, and a
large pockmark on the right cheek. He had coal black hair combed straight
back with strands of white, and wore black plastic framed glasses.
