DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The 2^nd District Crime Analyst provides timely and pertinent information relative to crime patterns and trend correlation to assist Montgomery County Police operational and administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources for:  the prevention and suppression of criminal activities; aiding the investigative process; and increasing apprehensions and the clearance of cases.

The Crime Analyst provides crime trend and pattern analysis to officers at all levels in the department (patrol, investigative, undercover, administration, Crime Prevention, Media Services, etc.), as well as agencies such as the States Attorney’s office, and assorted community groups.  Many of the activities performed by the crime analyst are supported through the use and maintenance of assorted crime databases, files, and other information sources.
