DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the uniformed officers, that are seen patrolling and
answering the calls for service generated by the visitors and
residents of the 2nd district, there are five detectives assigned to
the 2nd District's Investigative Section. The detectives are all
sworn police officers and are led by Sergeant Michael Hartnett, who
has more than 23 years experience on our Department.
These detectives have the responsibility of further investigating most of the
felony crimes that occur in this district, whenever possible,
developing enough information to obtain arrest warrants against the
perpetrator's), and to recover stolen property. They investigate the
non-commercial robberies, the burglaries, the felonious assaults,
some
of the felonious thefts, and some lesser offenses, as office
staffing and crime rates will allow.
The 2nd District Investigative Section is
staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. After
those hours and on weekends, detectives will respond top at the scenes of
significant incidents, as appropriate.
