RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 9, 2006 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-05-06, at 10:30 p.m., a 62-year-old Silver Spring woman was walking in the 2200 block of Washington Ave. in Silver Spring when 2 suspects approached from behind. One of the suspects was holding a gun and demanded money from the victim. The suspect grabbed her purse and briefcase and both suspects ran away from her building.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, dressed in black, ski mask, bandana.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, black clothing. 

            -On 12-29-05, at 1:55 p.m., a 55-year-old Silver Spring woman was in the garage at Westfield Wheaton Mall when Suspect #1 approached from behind. Suspect #1 displayed a gun and demanded money. The victim complied. Another suspect was standing on the other side of the vehicle. Both suspects fled on-foot.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 18, 5’4”, 135 lbs., short hair, beige jacket.
            -Suspect #2 – W/M, 18, 5’10”, 130 lbs., black jacket. 

            -On 12-31-05, at 5:55 p.m., a 32-year-old Silver Spring man was walking on Georgia Ave. near Epping Dr. when two suspects approached. Suspect #1 asked for money and displayed a gun. The victim complied. The suspect fled on-foot southbound on Georgia Avenue.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 17-18, 5’10”, 180 lbs., black jacket, white shirt, black pants.
            -Suspect #2 – same plus black full face mask. 

            -On 01-04-06, at 11:00 a.m., an 83-year-old Silver Spring man was walking in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike when two suspects approached him. Suspect #1 displayed a silver revolver and demanded money. The victim complied. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 18-22, 5’8”-5’10”, thin. Down jacket, blue jeans, black shoes.
            -Suspect #2 – Hispanic/M, 18-22, 5’6”-5’8”, blue jacket, blue jeans, black shoes. 

            -On 01-06-06, at 9:00 p.m., the Tropical International Market, located at 18507 N. Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg was robbed. A lone suspect entered the store at closing time and posed as a customer. The suspect was leaving the store but produced a gun and announced a robbery. The victims complied. The suspect left the store and was last seen walking north toward Travis Lane.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 20, 5’4”, 140 lbs., black knit hat, black jeans, black corduroy jacket, gray sweater, black scarf, black gloves. 

            -On 01-04-06, at 8:50 p.m., a delivery person for Manny and Olga’s food service in Silver Spring was in the 8200 block of Fenton St. in Silver Spring. Three suspects approached, two of the three suspects displayed guns. They went through the victim’s pockets and took cash. All 3 suspects then fled down the alley towards Grove Street.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’9”-6’0”, 185-195 lbs., bald, black clothing. 

            -On 01-01-06, at 8:49 a.m., a 29-year-old Cheverly, Md. man picked-up a suspect in the area of Riggs Rd. and University Blvd. and drove him to an unknown area in the Aspen Hill area. They had a dispute, the suspect and three Hispanic males assaulted the victim and took his leather jacket and keys.
            -Suspect Descriptions – Four W/M, Hispanic. 

            -On 01-04-06, at 11:20 a.m., the Miller’s Fur Store, located at 6900 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda, was robbed. A lone suspect entered the store and was prepared to buy a fur coat. As the suspect was ready to pay the clerk, he sprayed her with pepper spray. The suspect picked up the mink from the coat rack and ran out of the store. A witness said the suspect entered a black 4-door vehicle.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25-30, 5’8”-5’9”, 160 lbs., tan pants, tan jacket, tan skull cap.
