RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 11, 2006

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 01-02-06, at 3:00 p.m., a domestic dispute occurred in Laytonsville.  It remains under investigation. The suspect is a juvenile known to the victim.

RAPE

            -On 12-25-05, at 6:30 a.m., a 38-year-old Wheaton woman reported that she had been raped by 2 male suspects in the 2300 block of Shorefield Rd. in Wheaton. The investigation is continuing.

SEX ASSAULT 

-On 12-28-05, at 8:00 p.m., a 33-year-old Rockville mother reported that her juvenile daughter had been assaulted by another juvenile who was staying temporarily in their home. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

            -On 01-03-06, a 30-year-old Silver Spring man reported his juvenile daughter had been assaulted by another juvenile female, at Briggs Chaney Middle School. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST

            -On 01-06-06, at 12:28 a.m., Christopher Anthony Ortenzi, age 23, no fixed address, was arrested and charged with armed robbery. The arrest was a result of a robbery that had just occurred in the 200 block of East Diamond Ave. in Gaithersburg where the defendant robbed a 31-year-old Montgomery Village man.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY/ARREST

            -On 12-31-05, at 1:00 a.m., Lynell Jerome Brown, age 26, of the 8700 block of Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring and a 17-year-old male juvenile from Silver Spring were arrested and charged with Robbery, Theft under $500, and 2^nd degree Assault. The arrests were a result of strong arm robbery that had just occurred of a Wheaton male at the Wheaton Metro Bus Terminal. 

            -On 01-02-06, at 5:15 p.m., a 15-year-old Silver Spring youth was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to commit Robbery and Assault and Battery. The arrest was a result of the robbery that had just occurred in the area of Edgewood Avenue and Southwood Avenue in Silver Spring of a 15-year-old Silver Spring male.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY/ARREST

            -On 12-21-05, at 10:30 a.m., an 11-year-old Silver Spring male juvenile was arrested and charged with Attempt Robbery and 1^st degree Assault. The arrest was a result of an attempt robbery that had just occurred at Argyle Middle School in Silver Spring where the defendant threatened a fellow student with a knife.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 11-30-05, at 3:00 p.m., a 17-year-old Silver Spring male juvenile was arrested and charged with 1^st degree Assault, Possession of a Conceal Deadly Weapon, Openly wearing a dangerous weapon with intent to cause injury, and disorderly conduct. The arrest was a result of a fight in the 11300 block of Newport Mill Road in Silver Spring.

            -On 12-24-05, at 4:05 p.m., Morteza Delroba, age 48, of the 800 block of College Parkway in Rockville was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The arrest was a result of an incident in the hallway of an apartment complex in the 800 block of College Parkway.

            -On 01-03-06, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Jose Villeda Vega, age 36, of Silver Spring was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. The arrest was a result of fight with another male the 1000 block of Merrimac Dr. in Silver Spring.

INDECENT EXPOSURE ARREST 

            -On 01-03-06, at 10:30 p.m., Gregory Keane Graff, age 41, of the 9300 block of Grazing Terrace in Montgomery Village was arrested and charged with failure to obey a lawful order, indecent exposure, and possession of CDS paraphernalia. The arrest was a result of an indecent exposure incident at the defendant’s residence.

BURGLARY ARREST

            -On 12-31-05, at 11:50 p.m., Marlon Murcherson Hamilton, age 35, of the 8100 block of Needwood Rd. in Rockville was arrested and charged with 1^st degree burglary and 2^nd degree assault. The arrest was a result of an assault on a 29 year-old female and the forced entry into a home in the 7900 block of Capricorn Terrace in Gaithersburg.

            -On 12-22-05, at 9:35 p.m., Jason Kenneth Rollins, age 20, was arrested for Burglary, Theft, Assault and Battery, Uttering, and Resisting Arrest in the Unit block of Bethesda Metro  Center in Bethesda.

            -On 12-30-05, at 10:58 a.m., a 16-year-old juvenile from Germantown was arrested as a result of a burglary in the 12200 block of Stardrift Drive in Germantown. He was charged with 1^st Degree Burglary attempt, and 4^th Degree Possession of burglar tools.

            -IL PIZZICO, 15209 Frederick Road in Rockville, between 12:00 a.m. on 01-05-06 and 12:30 p.m. on 01-08-06. Forced entry, property taken.

3^rd DISTRICT

COMMERCIAL

            -CHICO’S CLOTHING STORE, 10733 Columbia Pike, at 2:58 a.m. pm 01-05-06. Forced entry, no property taken.

            -THE PATHWAYS SCHOOL, 801 University Boulevard, between 2:40 p.m. on 01-06-06 and 7:30 a.m. on 01-09-06. Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL

            -Unit block of Park Valley Road in Silver Spring, between 7:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on 01-09-06. Forced entry, property taken.

5^th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

            -MERCHANTS TIRE AND AUTO CENTER, 18820 Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg, between 12:45 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on 01-08-06. Forced entry, property taken.

            -WATKINS MILL BEER AND WINE, 857 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg, between 2:40 a.m. and 2:41 a.m. on 01-06-06. Forced entry, property taken.

6^th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL 

      -FASHION BUG CLOTHING STORE, 217 Kentlands Highway in Gaithersburg, between unknown times on an unknown date.
