RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 14, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY     

      -On 01-10-05, at 8:56 p.m., a 40-year-old Silver Spring woman was standing at the front door of her residence in the Fairland area of Silver Spring when she observed the suspect (B/M, 6’0” tall, 150 lbs., wearing a black monkey/gorilla costume with a mask) approach her displaying a handgun.  The suspect held the gun to her head and grabbed her black leather purse, which contained cash.  The suspect fled on foot.

 

ROBBERY - OTHER WEAPON 

            -On 01-02-05, at 8:02 p.m. a 45-year-old male from Silver Spring was delivering a pizza for Papa John’s in the area of the 100 block of Claybrook Street.  Upon arrival at the Claybrook address, the first suspect told the victim that he ordered the pizza.  Two additional suspects approached, threatened the victim with a baseball bat, and demanded money.  The victim fought with the suspects, and then the suspects fled the scene with the pizza.  All three suspects fled the scene with the pizza.  All three suspects are described as black males, 15 to 20 years old, 5’5” to 5’8” tall, wearing black clothing.

 

ATTEMPTED SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 01-09-05, at 5:00 a.m., a 29-year-old female from Baltimore was pulled her vehicle into the Crown Gas Station at 8600 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring and asked the suspect for help.  The suspect rubbed the victim’s arms and requested sexual favors.   The victim shoved the suspect, got into her car and locked her doors.  The suspect fled the scene in a white SUV heading north on Georgia Avenue.   The suspect is a white male, 35 to 40, 6’4” to 6’6” tall, 200 to 210 pounds, with a goatee.  He was wearing a beige jacket, beige pants, and a white shirt.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST 

            -Sharon Denise Glover-Sampson, 37, of Gaithersburg was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of a domestic dispute on 01-09-05.

 

HANDGUN AND CDS ARREST

            -Yolanda Cato, 18, of the 400 block of Edgewood Street, N.E. in Washington, D.C. and Tawanna Tinker, 22, of the 700 block of Hamilton Street, N.W. in Washington, D.C. were arrested and charged with Transporting a Handgun, Knowingly Transporting a Handgun, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and Possession of CDS – Marijuana.  The arrests were the result of a traffic stop that occurred on 01-04-05 in the 7900 block of Georgia Avenue.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -AMERICAN PHYSIOLOGICAL SOCIETY, 9650 Rockville Pike in Bethesda, between 3:30 p.m. on 01-09-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 01-10-05.  Pried door, took laptop computers.

            -AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR PHARMACOLOGY AND EXPERIMENTAL THERAPEUTICS, 9650 Rockville Pike, E220 - E240, in Bethesda, between 7:20 p.m. on 01-09-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 01-10-05.  Pried front door, nothing taken.

-FASEB EXECUTIVE OFFICES, 9650 Rockville Pike, E104 - E115 in Bethesda, between 7:20 p.m. on 01-09-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 01-10-05.  Pried door, unknown if anything taken.

            -THE PROTEIN SOCIETY, 9650 Rockville Pike, E142 – E143, between 7:20 p.m. on 01-09-05 and 7:00 a.m. on 01-10-05.  Pried door, unknown if anything taken.

            -TEEL CONSTRUCTION INC., 7013 Brookville Road in Chevy Chase, between 3:30 p.m. on 01-07-05 and 6:45 a.m. on 01-10-05.  Pried trailer door, took tools. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -7100 block of Beechwood Drive in Chevy Chase, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on 01-10-05.  Broke out rear window, nothing taken.  

            -9600 block of Parkwood Dr. in Bethesda, between 1:55 a.m. and 1:59 a.m. on 01-06-05.  Broke through rear door, vehicle and phone taken.

 

3rd DISTRICT

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

-600 block of Bennington Dr. in Silver Spring, between 12:00 p.m. on 01-02-05 and 4:40 p.m. on 01-08-05. Broke through back door, unknown if anything taken.

 

4TH DISTRICT

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

            -ENSETEC, 11262 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton, between 9:00 p.m. on 12-28-04 and 1:00 a.m. on 12-29-04.  Opened office door, computer taken.

            -SASSY CLEANERS, 4011 Norbeck Rd. in Rockville, at 9:43 p.m. on 01-01-05.  Pried frame, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

            -14200 block of Weeping Willow Dr. in Silver Spring, between 3:20 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. on 12-29-04. Unknown method of entry, nothing taken.

            -1100 block of University Blvd. in Silver Spring, between 1:01 a.m. on 08-15-04 and 1:01 a.m. on 12-21-04. Side door unlocked, keys and prescription medication taken.

            -3500 block of Pear Tree Ct. in Silver Spring, between 4:00 p.m. and 11:29 p.m. on 12-31-04. Broke through rear door, nothing taken.

            -12100 block of Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 01-03-05. Damaged deadbolt lock, nothing taken.

            -400 block of Old Stone Rd. in Silver Spring, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 12-29-04. No forced entry, jewelry and DVDs taken.

            -2000 block of Ballows Way in Silver Spring, between 9:00 a.m. on 12-25-04 and 12:08 a.m. on 12-31-04. Window smashed in laundry room, lock box taken.

            -12600 block of English Orchard Ct. in Silver Spring, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:55 p.m. on 12-31-04. Broke through rear basement glass door, camera taken.

            -12800 block of Teaberry Rd. in Silver Spring, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on 12-31-04.  Broke out several windows, nothing taken.

            -12700 block of Weiss St. in Rockville, between 3:00 p.m. on 12-25-04 and 1:00 p.m. on 12-27-04.             Broke through rear basement door, nothing taken.

            -14500 block of Chesterfield Rd. in Rockville, between 3:45 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on 12-23-04. Entered unlocked window, printer taken.

            -14200 block of Cricket Lane in Silver Spring, between 6:30 p.m. on 12-29-04 and 6:00 a.m. on 12-30-04. Side door entry, window damaged, nothing taken.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

            -CLOPPER MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 15501 Cinnamon Dr. in Germantown, between 3:45 p.m. on 01-08-05 and 3:21 p.m. on 0-09-05. Forced rear window, nothing taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

            -20200 block of Shipley Terrace, in Germantown, between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on 01-06-04. Pried sliding glass door, nothing taken.

            -20500 block of Amethyst Lane in Germantown, between 9:00 a.m. on 01-04-05 and 9:00 p.m. on 01-07-05. Pried frame on sliding glass door, nothing taken.

            -Unit block of Cottage Field Ct. in Germantown, between 12:00 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. on 01-07-05.  Broke out sliding glass door, rifle taken.

            -13300 block of White Church Circle in Germantown, at 5:40 a.m. on 01-09-05.  Broke out front door, nothing taken.

            -12900 block of Barleycorn Terrace in Germantown, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 01-04-05. Pried frame on basement door, computer, jewelry, and camera taken.

            -19900 block of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown, between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 01-06-05.  Pried frame on sliding glass door, cash taken.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

            -SANDY SPRING BANK, 16 Chestnut St. in Gaithersburg, on 01-10-05 at unknown time.  Broke lock on ATM machine at Fairgrounds, nothing taken.
