RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 23, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-16-06, at 7:05 p.m., a 23-year-old Wheaton man was walking in the Wheaton Haven Ct. area in Wheaton when he noticed a vehicle which appeared to be following him. Two suspects got out of the car and approached the victim and stood on either side of him. They produced a gun and demanded his wallet. The victim handed over his wallet and the suspect fled in their vehicle in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 17-18, 5’8”, 160 lbs., bandana covering face. No description of Suspect #2 

            -On 01-13-06, at 8:45 p.m., an 18-year-old Germantown youth was walking in the area of Scenery Dr. and Scenery Place in Germantown when he was approached by two suspects. One suspect displayed a black handgun in his waistband. The other suspect took the victim’s cell phone, cash, and a pair of sneakers. The suspects then fled on foot.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 18-20, 5’11”, black coat.  No description of Suspect #2 

            -On 01-17-06, at 4:00 a.m., a 20-year-old Silver Spring man was in the area of the 1900 block of East West Highway in Bethesda when a suspect approached him. A second suspect was seen driving a small dark colored car. Suspect #1 implied he had a gun and robbed the victim. Cash and camera phone were taken.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20, 5’8”-5’10”, thin, black pants, gray shirt.  No description of Suspect #2 

            -On 01-13-06, at 12:26 p.m., the Amore Hats, Etc., located at 7910 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring was robbed. Two suspects entered the store and posed as customers. They implied a gun and announced a robbery. A woman’s suit was taken. The suspects fled the scene.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 40, 5’11”, 140-150 lbs., blue hat, black nylon running suit, gloves. 

            -On 01-15-06, at 10:50 p.m., the Arbys Restaurant, located at 11710 Rockville Pike in Rockville was robbed. Two suspects confronted the restaurant manager as he was leaving. They forced him at gunpoint to open the safe. Cash was taken.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 6’0”, thin, black sweat suit, black ski mask. No description of Suspect #2 

            -On 01-13-06, at 5:10 p.m., a 26-year-old Frederick, Md. man reported that while he was outside Lakeforest Mall, 701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg, a suspect jumped into his car and attempted to carjack him. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 01-14-06, at 11:45 p.m., a 17-year-old Silver Spring youth and an 18-year-old Bethesda male were at a gas station in the 12200 block of Veirs Mill Rd. in Wheaton and they were approached by 2 suspects. They demanded money and produced a knife. A fight ensued and one of the victims was stabbed. No property was taken. The suspects fled in a dark blue Chevy Caprice with “spinner” wheels. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY

            -On 01-13-06, at 12:01 a.m., a 19-year-old Germantown man was in the Flower Hill Shopping Center in Gaithersburg when he was approached by 2 suspects. The suspects demanded property and when the victim refused, the suspects beat him around the face and head. The victim sustained injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 19-20, 5’11”, short hair, black jacket. No description of Suspect #2 

            -On 01-13-06, at 10:55 p.m., a 16-year-old Gaithersburg male was in the 11500 block of Sullnick Rd. in Gaithersburg when he was approached by 3 suspects. The victim was grabbed and threw his wallet. The description of all suspects was unknown. 

            -On 01-15-06, at 9:15 p.m., a 17-year-old Silver Spring male was walking with a female friend along Aldelphi Rd. near New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring when they were approached by 3 suspects. All suspects started punching the victim. The victim and the friend were able to walk home, the victim had sustained an injury to his eye and he was transported to the local hospital.
            -All suspects – Hispanic/M, 16-25, 5’5”-6’0”.
