RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 27, 2006

 

STRONG ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-16-06, at 6:30 p.m., a 58 year-old N. Potomac man and his 46 year-old wife were taking a walk in the area of Turley Dr. and Sweetbough Ct. in Rockville when they were approached by 2 suspects. The suspects demanded money but the victims fled and no property was obtained.
-Suspect #1 and #2 – B/M, 20-25, 6’0”-6’2”, 160-170 lbs., black coat. 

            -On 01-13-06, at 8:35 p.m., a 24-year-old Washington, D.C. man was in the 100 block of Bonifant St. in Silver Spring when he was approached by 6 black male suspects. They took his cash and cell phone and then fled on-foot to the bus turn-around on the lower lot of the Silver Spring Metro station.
            -Suspect #1 B/M, 22-25 years-old, 5’10”, thin, wearing baggy blue jeans, and a green army jacket.
            -Suspect #2 B/M, 5’8”, wearing black jacket, black mask.
            -Suspect #’s 3-6 B/M - NFD 

            -On 01-14-06, at 12:05 a.m., a 16-year-old Wheaton youth and his brother were in the area of Layhill Rd. and Briggs Road in Wheaton when they were approached by a suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim and attempted to hit him. The victim handed over a cell phone, jacket, and shoes.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 6’0”-6’2”, corn rows hair, yellow coat, blue jeans. 

            -On 01-14-06, at 9:10 p.m., a 39-year-old Silver Spring man was attempting to enter an apartment in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring when 4 black juvenile males wearing hooded sweatshirts approached him and demanded property and money. They were 18-20 years of age. The victim handed over some cigarettes but refused to give up his wallet. One suspect then punched the victim in the face. They took the victim’s cell phone. The suspects then fled the scene on-foot towards Carroll Avenue.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 01-15-06, at 1:45 a.m., four males and one female entered a residence in the 3300 block of Teagarden Circle in Silver Spring brandishing handguns and knives. This followed an altercation outside the residence involving one of the guests. The suspects created several holes in the walls. The suspects then fled the scene by smashing the balcony door and exiting the apartment.
            -Suspect #1 B/F, 18-19 years-old, 5’4”-5’6”, 150-160 lbs., wearing blue jeans, and a black jacket.
            -Suspect #2 B/M, 18-19 years-old, 6’2”, wearing a black jacket.
            -Suspect #3 B/M, 18-19 years-old, wearing a black jacket, black ski mask
            -Suspect 4 & 5 B/M 18-19 years-old, NFD. 

            -On 01-15-06, at approximately 7:27 p.m., a man and a woman were in the basement in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring doing laundry when 10 juveniles between 12 and 15 entered the room. Two suspects displayed handguns. The male victim recognized the guns as toys and began to chase the boys. Several of the juveniles threw debris at the victim.
            -Suspect #1 B/M, 12-15 years-old, 5’4”-5”8”, wearing black clothing, armed with a silver gun.
            -Suspect #2 H/M, 12-15 years-old, 5’4”-5’8”, wearing black clothing, armed with a silver gun. 

            -On 01-12-06, at 10:00 p.m., a 23-year-old Germantown man reported he was in the 12500 block of Crystal Rock Terrace in Germantown when 2 suspects approached him. Suspect #1 pointed a black handgun at him and the victim ran back into his townhouse. Two gunshots were then fired. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 5’3”-5’5”, short hair.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20-25, 5’9”, NFD. 

            -On 01-12-06, at 6:22 p.m., a 62-year-old Silver Spring man heard a knock on his door in the 1000 block of Nora Dr. in Silver Spring where he observed 2 males on the front steps. Suspect #1 attempted to push the door open, but was not successful. He was holding a black semi-automatic handgun. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to close the door. No entry was obtained. The suspects fled up the street and entered a vehicle.
            -Suspect #1 B/M, 30’s, 5’7”-5’8”, 130-140 lbs., wearing a brown or tan jacket w/hood, armed with handgun.
            -Suspect #2 B/M, 30’s, NFD. 

            -On 01-15-06, at 3:30 p.m., the loss prevention officer at Nordstrom’s in Montgomery Mall 7111 Democracy Blvd in Bethesda, spotted a suspect attempting to leave the store with 3 pairs of sunglasses he did not pay for. The guard confronted the suspect outside the store and a struggle ensued. The suspect produced an object, possibly box cutters, and caused minor injuries to the officer. The suspect got away.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 25-30, 5’9”-5’10”, black puffy jacket, black hat, blue jeans, black shoes. 

            -On 01-13-06, at 7:33 p.m., a 15-year-old Washington, D.C. male was walking with a friend on the sidewalk just north of the metro Bridge exit from the Silver Spring station when he noticed a group of 5 girls following him. One of the suspects attacks him and the victim later noticed cuts to his neck. He was transported to the local hospital for stitches. An unidentified male intervened to stop the attack.
-Suspect #1 – B/F, 5’9”-5’11”, braids, red vest jacket, blue jeans.
            -Suspect 2-5 - NFD

            -On 01-16-06, at 12:10 a.m., an 18-year-old Gaithersburg man was in the 300 block of E. Diamond Ave. and began to throw rocks at the train and at some bystanders. Several victim were hit but were not seriously injured. The suspect’s identity is known.

 

RAPE

            -On 01-13-06, a 46-year-old Washington, D.C. woman reported that she had been raped on 01-09-06 around 2:00 a.m., by a male whom she had had an intimate relationship for awhile. The incident occurred in the Unit block of Kinsman View Circle in Silver Spring. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

SEX OFFENSE

            -On 01-18-06, a Gaithersburg mother reported that her juvenile son had been assaulted by a known suspect in Gaithersburg. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST

            -On 01-13-06, at 3:00 p.m., a 15-year-old Silver Spring female was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree Assault and Possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure. Also charged in the incident was a 12 year-old Silver Spring girl. She was charged with 2nd degree assault.

            -On 01-13-06, at 1:20 a.m., Viengkham Saesirisouk, age 27, of the 11500 block of Veirs Mill Rd. in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with 2 counts of 1st degree Assault and Destruction of Property under $500. The arrest was a result of a fight outside Dave and Buster’s on the upper level of the White Flint Mall and involving several individuals.

            -On 01-14-06, at 10:00 p.m., police were called to a home in the 200 block of Cedar Ave. in Gaithersburg for the report of a domestic dispute. A 34 year-old male and a 39-year-old female were arrested. The male was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault, assault on a police office, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. The female was charged with assault on a police office.
