RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

January 31, 2005

 

ROBBERY 

            -On 01-26-05, at 10:00 p.m., the Domino’s Pizza, located at 12705 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring, was robbed. Two suspects entered the store, displayed a gun and demanded money from the register. The victim complied and handed over cash. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.  The first suspect is described as a B/M, 23, 5’8”-5’9”tall, 160 lbs., and was wearing a black ski mask, blue hooded sweater, and Timberland boots.  The second suspect is described as a B/M, 23, 6’2”-6’3” tall, with a thick build, and wearing a ski mask. 

            -On 01-26-05, at noon, the Sandy Spring Bank, located at 3535 Spencerville Rd. in Burtonsville, was robbed.  A lone suspect entered the bank, implied a handgun, and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect cash and the suspect fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.  The suspect is a B/M, 35 to 45 years old, 6’2”-6’4” tall, 200-230 lbs., with a thin mustache and beard, and was wearing a black Kangol hat with brim, yellow/gold rain style jacket, jeans, and boots.  ****Previous Press Release Issued**** 

            -On 01-24-05, at 11:45 a.m., a 26-year-old Germantown man was leaving a doctor’s office in the 19300 block of Montgomery Village Ave. when a blue, 2-door Buick Regal, 1987-1989, with VA. tags pulled up alongside him. One of the five black males in the vehicle displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet, jacket, and watch. The victim complied and the suspects drove away.   One of the suspects is described as a B/M, 17, 5’7”, 180 lbs., with long dreadlocks, and was wearing jeans, and a skullcap.  The other four suspects are described only as black males. 

            -On 01-28-05, at 1:00 a.m., a 20-year-old Takoma Park man was at the bus stop in the 1900 block of Montgomery Village Ave. in Gaithersburg, when he was approached by a suspect. The suspect pressed a sharp object in the victim’s back and demanded his backpack and money. The victim turned over his wallet with cash and a backpack. The suspect then fled on foot on Centerway towards Goshen Road.  The suspects is described as a W/M, 20s, 6’1” tall, 170 lbs., with shoulder-length hair and a goatee, and was wearing a black leather biker jacket with chains on shoulders, black jeans, and a stocking cap. 

            -On 01-26-05, at 6:40 p.m., a 16-year-old Germantown male was approached by five suspects at Poppyseed Lane and Thyme Ct. in Germantown. Suspect #1 implied a gun and demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim refused. When the suspect persisted the victim gave the suspect the phone.  The suspects then fled the area in an unknown direction.  The suspects are described as follows:
            Suspect #1 – B/M, 14-17, 5’6”, black winter coat with hood.
            Suspect #2 – B/M, 16-18, 6’1”, thin, short Afro hair, beard, black winter coat.
            Suspect #3 – B/M, 16-18, 5’7”, muscular, dark clothing.
            Suspects #4 and #5 – B/Ms, dark clothing.

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 01-21-05, at 5:50 p.m., an 88-year-old Rockville woman was walking in the rear parking lot of Magruders on Frederick Rd. in Rockville when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and grabbed her navy blue handbag containing cash.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 50, 5’8”-6’0”, 150-175 lbs., black rim glasses, dark clothes. 

            -On 01-27-05, 1:40 p.m., an 18-year-old Rockville man got off the train at the Rockville Metro station and was approached by a suspect who kept asking him for change.  The victim pulled out some cash and the suspect grabbed 3 bills. The suspect then walked away in an unknown direction in the metro station tunnel.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 17-18, 5’9”, 140-150 lbs., thin mustache, black ski cap, big gray coat.

 

RAPE 

            -On 01-26-05, a 34-year-old Silver Spring woman reported that she had been raped numerous times between November 2003 and December 2004 by a friend who had lived with her part of that time. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

            -On 12-28-04, a 17-year-old Potomac female reported that she had been raped by a casual friend at her home during a celebration event. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.

 

RAPE ARREST 

            -On 01-25-05, an 18-year-old Germantown man was charged with 4th-Degree Burglary and 2nd-Degree Rape.  The arrest is the result of an incident that occurred on January 24th in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown.

 

PEEPING TOM 

            -On 01-24-05, at 4:30 p.m., a suspect looking in the window of a home in the 400 block of Christopher Avenue in Gaithersburg.  The suspect is described as a B/M, 6’0” tall, and has black hair.

 

INDECENT EXPOSURE 

            -On 01-25-05, at 4:00 p.m., a 22-year-old Silver Spring woman was in the 3rd floor parking garage in the 1000 block of Bonifant St. when a suspect offered to check a leak in her car.  About 20 minutes later, she discovered him masturbating towards the rear of her car. The victim quickly drove away.   The suspect is described as a B/M, 5’10”-6’0” tall, medium build, wearing a dark jacket, denim clothes, and tan construction-style boots.

            -B&B REFUSE, 14500 Southlawn Lane in Rockville, between 5:00 p.m. on 01-24-05 and 5:10 a.m. on 01-25-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -PIZZA PALACE, 14050 Travilah Rd. in Rockville, between 10:10 p.m. on 01-18-05 and 10:30 a.m. on 01-19-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

 

2ND DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -10600 block of Montrose Ave. in Bethesda, between 11:00 a.m. on 01-22-05 and 7:00 p.m. on 01-23-05. Forced entry, property taken.

 

5TH DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -13200 block of Bayberry Dr. in Germantown, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:33 p.m. on 01-25-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -18000 block of Cottage Garden Dr. in Germantown, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on 01-25-05.  Forced entry, property taken.

            -12900 block of Cherry Wood Place in Germantown, at 9:30 a.m. on 01-25-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

 

6TH DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -DOLLAR AND MORE, 229 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg, between 2:45 a.m. and 3:05 a.m. on 01-23-05.  Attempt only.

            -MAIN ST. BEER AND WINE, 300 Main St. in Gaithersburg, at 11:30 p.m. on 01-23-05. Attempt only. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -Unit block of Nancy Place in Gaithersburg, at 10:30 p.m. on 01-25-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -400 block of Blue Silk Lane in Gaithersburg, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on 01-24-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -Unit block of Maplewood Dr. in Gaithersburg, between noon and 12:30 p.m. on 01-18-05. Forced entry, property taken.

            -4500 block of Benion Rd. in Silver Spring, at 6:21 p.m. on 01-13-05. Unknown method of entry, property taken.
