RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

February 7, 2006

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 01-28-06, at 12:43 a.m., a 16 year-old Silver Spring youth was walking near the intersection of Randolph Rd. and Bregman Rd. in Wheaton when he noticed a newer silver Volkswagen station wagon parked nearby. The passenger/suspect called the victim over and displayed a small black handgun. He demanded money and the victim turned over an empty wallet. They took his cell phone and drove away westbound on Randolph Road.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 17-22, 5’7”-5’11”, 170-180 lbs., braids, black jacket, tan boots, black jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 17-22, short hair, Gray Jacket or sweater. 

            -On 01-31-06, at 8:10 p.m., a 16-year-old Silver Spring teen was walking on Elkin St. at Amherst Ave. in Wheaton when 2 suspects approached from behind. Suspect #1 pulled out a gun. They took CDs, cash, and a cell phone from the victim. The suspects ran off towards the pool area of the Pembridge Apartments off of Elkin Street.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20-25, 6’1”-6’3”, 190-200 lbs., thin, black jacket, blue jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 18-20, 5’08”-5’10”, 150-160 lbs., black jacket. 

            -On 01-28-06, at 10:07 p.m., an 18-year-old Germantown man was walking through the field near the intersection of great Seneca Highway and Clopper Rd. when he was confronted by 3 suspects. One suspect ran up and tackled the victim. Another suspect took cash from the victim’s pockets. A third suspect acted as a lookout. They fled on-foot south on Great Seneca toward Dairymaid Drive.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, black pants, black shirt.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, baggy black pants, black long-sleeve shirt
            -Suspect #3 – B/M, baggy black pants, black long-sleeve shirt  

            -On 01-30-06, at 8:15 a.m., a 43 year-old Silver Spring man was in the parking lot in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Rd. when he was approached from behind by a suspect. He demanded money and implied a gun. The suspect knocked the victim’s glasses off. The victim gave up his wallet. The suspect fled down the stairs of the parking lot.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’7”-5’8”, 160-180 lbs., stubble facial hair, black hat, black jacket. 

            -On 01-31-06, at 10:35 p.m., two Gaithersburg brothers, ages 15 and 20, were in the 900 block of Clopper Road when they were approached by a suspect. The suspect displayed a gun and demanded their cell phone and wallet. One of the victims turned over both items. The suspect fled on-foot towards the pool/rec center.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 6’0”-6’1”, 150 lbs., mustache, thin. 

            -On 01-29-06, at 8:45 p.m., a delivery person for Hunan Best Restaurant in Gaithersburg was making a delivery in the 700 block of Clopper Rd. when he was approached by the suspect who displayed a knife. The suspect demanded money and the victim complied. The suspect fled on-foot in an unknown direction.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’7”-5’10”, 130-140 lbs., thin. 

            -On 01-23-06, at 12:10 p.m., a 79-year-old Bethesda woman was in the 10200 block of Westlake Dr. when 4 suspects approached her and asked her for directions to the Metro station. The suspects then grabbed the victim’s keys from her hand.  The victim was pushed to the ground. The suspects also took the victim’s wallet. They took the vehicle described as a 2000 silver Mitsubishi, 4 door, with Md. Tags.
            -Suspects – 2 or 3 black females, 2 black males. NFD

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 01-28-06, at 7:40 p.m., a 34-year-old Germantown man was on a path behind Grand Mart on Mateny Rd. when he was jumped by 4-5 black males in dark clothing. They knocked him down and took cash from his pocket. A short time later, few blocks away, on Eagles Roost Dr., a 2nd victim, a 24-year-old Germantown man was also knocked down and robbed by two B/M’s, who then ran across Mateny Rd. toward Cinnamon Drive. These incidents are believed to be related. NFD of the suspects. 

            -On 01-25-06, at 2:45 p.m., a 13-year-old Silver Spring youth was walking on the sidewalk in front of the 400 block of Schuyler Rd. when he walked past a suspect. The suspect struck the victim from behind. He attempted to snatch his headphones and I-POD, but was not successful.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 15-16, 5’5”-5’7”, 150-170 lbs., mustache, black pants, black hoodie, black sneakers.  

            -On 01-21-06, at 8:00 p.m., a delivery person for Pizza Hut was attempting to make a delivery to the unit block of Habersham Ct. in Silver Spring when he was approached by 4 suspects. As the victim approached, the suspects took the victim’s belongings as well as the ordered food.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’11”-6’2”, dreadlocks, thin, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans.
            -Suspect #2 – B/F, 5’3”-5’5”, twists for hair, black sweatshirt.
            -Suspects #3-4 – B/M’s, NFD 

            -On 01-25-06, at 5:02 p.m., the Hobby Works store, located at 12274 Rockville Pike was the scene of an attempted robbery. A suspect attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise when he was stopped by store personnel. A struggle ensued and the victim had to tackle the suspect to keep him from fleeing. The stolen property was dropped but the suspect got away.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 6’1”-6’3”, 170-185 lbs., green coat, gray hat.

-On 01-28-06, at 6:45 p.m., a 24 year-old Wheaton man was on a bus on Veirs Mill Rd. in Wheaton when he got into an argument with a suspect. The victim got off of the bus and was assaulted by 2 males. He was pushed to the ground and his necklace was taken. The suspect walked eastbound on Veirs Mill Road.
            -Suspect #1 – W/M, 25-30, 5’10”, 190 lbs., black shirt, blue coat, blue jeans, gray necklace.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 01-29-06, at 3:20 a.m., police responded to the 19000 block of Staleybridge Rd. in Germantown for the report of a large house party involving 20-30 Hispanic males and females. Apparently a large fight had broken out and one person had been stabbed with a broken bottle. The injured person was flown to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – Hispanic/M, 20-25, 5’8”, intoxicated. 

            -On 01-30-06, a Montgomery Village father reported that his 14-year-old son was confronted by 6 juvenile males outside the Safeway Store located at 9639 Lost Knife Circle. The suspects were 5 black males and 1 white male. They pushed the victim and took his jacket. All males then fled on foot. 

            -On 02-01-06, at 8:00 p.m., a 37-year-old Silver Spring man was attack in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring by 2 suspects. He had lacerations on his head and was transported to the local hospital. He did not remember anything else about the attack.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ARREST 

            -On 01-28-06, at 10:30 p.m., Franklin Yoshio Cornejolagos, age 20, of the 5000 block of Orleans Ct. in Kensington was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault. The arrest was a result of a fight in the 2400 block of Harmon Rd. in Silver Spring. The victim, a 34 year–old man, was stabbed by the defendant with a bottle opener. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. 

            -On 01-31-06, at 10:05 p.m., a 16-year-old female juvenile from Boyds was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. The arrest was a result of a planned robbery in the area of the 7100 block of Intrepid Lane in Gaithersburg.           

            -On 01-28-06, at 11:10 p.m., a 16 year-old Gaithersburg woman was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment. The arrest was a result of an incident in the unit block of Goodport Lane in Gaithersburg that had just occurred. 

            -On 01-19-06, at 10:00 p.m., Victor F. Suarez, age 21, of the 900 block of Benson Terrace in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and consuming alcohol in public. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 2900 block of Byron St. in Wheaton involving a 21-year-old Washington, D.C. man that had just occurred.  

            -On 01-25-06, at 1:10 p.m., several juveniles were arrested and face various charges as a result of an attack on a 14 year-old Silver Spring youth in the 11800 block of Claridge Road in Wheaton that had just occurred. He was transported to the local hospital. A 14-year-old Silver Spring male was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and conspiracy to commit both. A 14-year-old Silver Spring female was charged with conspiracy to commit 1st and 2nd degree assault. A 14-year-old Silver Spring male was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and conspiracy to commit both. A 16-year-old Gaithersburg youth was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and conspiracy to commit both.

 

SEX OFFENSE

            -On 01-26-06, a 9-year-old Silver Spring juvenile reported to her father that she had been touched inappropriately by a known male several times. The suspect’s identity is known and the investigation is continuing.
