RECENT CRIME SUMMARY
February 9, 2005
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY
-On February 6 at 8:45 p.m., the suspect
entered the Muddy Branch Beer and Wine at 836 Muddy Branch Rd. in
Gaithersburg, and initially posed as a customer. The suspect then
approached an employee, implied a handgun, and demanded money. The
suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and left the scene on
foot in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a black
male, in his 40s, 6 to 62 tall, 175 lbs, black hair, brown eyes,
and wearing black clothing.
CARJACKING
-On February 2 at 2:16 p.m., the
34-year-old male victim from Baltimore was sitting in his vehicle in
the parking lot in the 13800 block of Castle Blvd in the Briggs
Chaney area of Silver Spring when he was approached by three
suspects. The first suspect displayed a gun and demanded money. A
second suspect then entered the passenger side of the vehicle and
took the victims wallet. The victim was then forced out of the
vehicle. The first suspect drove away in the victims vehicle,
while the other two suspects walked away towards Castle Blvd. When
the victim ran for help, the first suspect stopped the vehicle, got
out, and ran away. The vehicle was recovered. The first suspect is
a black male, 15-16, 511-6 tall, 130-140 lbs. wearing a grey
sweatsuit, black gloves, and a black ski hat. The second and third
suspects are described as black males, 14-16, 55 tall, 120-130
lbs, wearing a black ski hats.
STRONG ARM ROBBERY
-On February 6 at 2:35 a.m., the
64-year-old male victim, a Barwood Cab employee, picked up the
suspect in the unit block of Ivy Oak Ct. in the Emory Grove area of
Gaithersburg. The suspect was taken to the intersection of Amity
Dr. and Cambourne Ct. in Gaithersburg where he asked the driver for
change. As the victim took out his own money to make change, the
suspect grabbed the victim and took an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect then fled the cab and ran down Amity Dr. towards
Washington Grove. The suspect is described as a black male, 21-24,
57 tall, 160 lbs, with black cornrows and a black mustache, and
was wearing a light blue sweater.
-On February 2 at 8:30 p.m., the
46-year-old female victim from Wheaton was followed from a bus stop
in the 10800 block of Georgia Ave in Wheaton, into the elevator of
her apartment building. While in the elevator, the suspect forcibly
removed her backpack from her shoulder, and then fled out the
elevator when the doors opened. The suspect is described as a black
male, 28-32, 6 to 62 tall, 200-215 lbs, wearing black clothing
and a black hat.
-On February 1 at 10:52 p.m., the
69-year-old male victim from Silver Spring was walking in the 11000
block of Veirs Mill Rd in Wheaton, when two suspects approached
him. The suspects demanded money and struck the victim in the head,
then fled on foot. The suspects are described as black males, 57
to 59 tall, wearing all black clothing. The victim received minor
injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT
-On February 3 at 10:30 p.m., the
46-year-old female victim from Gaithersburg went to a friends
apartment off of Lost Knife Circle in Gaithersburg. After the
victim went inside, the suspect entered the apartment. The suspect
then grabbed the victim and threatened her with a gun. The victim
then left the apartment. As she was leaving, she saw the suspect
leaving in a blue Subaru. The suspect is described as a black
female, 58 tall, 170 lbs., with brown eyes and short brown hair.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
-On February 2, a 14-year-old girl from
Gaithersburg reported to her school guidance counselor that, on an
unknown date at the end of September in 2004, a 14-year-old male
acquaintance, also of Gaithersburg, forced her to perform fellatio
at her house while her parents were not home. The suspect is known
and the investigation is continuing.
INDECENT EXPOSURE
-On February 5 at 3:30 p.m., the
25-year-old female victim from Gaithersburg was in a stairwell in
the 400 block of N. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg, when an
unknown suspect approached her. After a brief conversation, the
victim noticed that the suspect was not wearing pants or underwear.
The victim got away from the suspect and called the police. The
suspect is described as a white male, 33-35, 58 to 59 tall,
200-220 lbs, with buck teeth, brown eyes, and was balding. He was
wearing a gray T-shirt and sneakers.
4th DEGREE SEX OFFENSE
-On February 1 at 7:18 p.m., the
17-year-old female victim from Bethesda was walking in the 11200
block of Old Georgetown Rd in Bethesda when the suspect, who was
walking past her in the opposite direction, grabbed her breast and
continued walking. The suspect disappeared into a wooded area. The
suspect is described as a white male, 20-25, 52 to 54 tall,
150-170 lbs, wearing blue sunglasses, a black baseball hat, and a
dark coat.
