ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 02-12-04, AT 9:15 p.m., a 21-year-old Bethesda man was the victim of an attempted-armed robbery near Westlake Drive and Westlake Terrace in Bethesda.  As the victim was walking, two suspects approached and attempted to take his coat.  They implied they were armed with handguns.  The victim ran from the suspects.  One suspect was seen running towards Montgomery Mall and the second suspect fled in an unknown direction.  The first suspect was a black male, 20-25 years, 5’7” to 5’9”, 170-190 pounds, wearing dark clothing.  The second suspect was a black male, 20-25 years, 5’7” to 5’9”, 170-190 pounds, also wearing dark clothing.

            -On 02-13-04, at 12:25 a.m., a 37-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of an armed robbery in the 9200 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.  The victim saw two suspects approaching, became scared and began to run.  The first suspect ran towards her displaying a knife.  When both suspects caught up to her, they took her purse.  They were last seen running on Piney Branch Road.  The first suspect was a Hispanic male, 20-25 years, 5’2”, 155 pounds, wearing dark clothing.  The second suspect was a Hispanic male, 5’6”, 140 pounds, wearing dark clothing.

-On 02-16-04, at 5:10 p.m., a 15-year-old Rockville youth was the victim of an armed robbery at 701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg.  Three suspects confronted the victim.  The suspects demanded money and stated they had a knife.  The victim complied.  The suspects left the area in an unknown direction.  The first suspect was a black male, 16-years-of-age, 5’9”, 150 pounds, wearing dark clothing.  The second suspect was a black male, 16-years-of-age, 5’10”, 150 pounds, wearing dark clothing. The third suspect was a black male, 17-years-of-age, 5’8”, 180 pounds, also wearing dark clothing.

 

ARMED ROBBERY ARREST 

           -On 02-13-04, Andrew Encarnacion, age 18, of the 9900 block of Killarney Lane in Gaithersburg, and Reginald Jones, age 22, of the 20500 block of Strath Haven Drive in Gaithersburg were arrested.  Encarnacion was charged with Carjacking, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon.  Jones was charged with Motor Vehicle Theft and Possession of Marijuana.  The arrests were the result of an incident in the unit block of Travis Court in Gaithersburg.  ***Previous Release written on the incident.****

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 02-12-04, at 6:10 p.m., a 48-year-old Rockville woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery near Wilmet Road and Bulls Run Parkway in Bethesda.  The suspect approached the victim and began pulling on her purse.  A brief struggle ensued and the suspect was able to obtain her purse.  The suspect was last seen on Bulls Run Parkway.  The suspect was described as a white male, 20-29 years, 5’11” to 6’0”, 175 pounds, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a hat. 

            -On 02-14-04, at 8:45 a.m., a 31-year-old Silver Spring woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery near the intersection of Manchester Place and E. Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring.  The suspect approached the victim and grabbed her purse.  The suspect was last seen on E. Wayne Avenue.  The suspect was described as a white male, 20-25 years, 5’7”, 130-145 pounds, wearing dark clothing.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 02-11-04, at 2:40 p.m., a 23-year-old Gaithersburg woman was the victim of an aggravated assault in the 500 block of South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.  The victim was driving north on Frederick Avenue near Education Boulevard when she heard something strike her car.  She looked back and saw the rear passenger door glass was shattered.  No suspect information is available and it was unknown what caused her window to shatter.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 02-14-04, Douglas Stermer, age 38, of no current fixed address, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Burglary and Second-Degree Assault.  The arrest was the result of an incident in the 100 block of Pontiac Way in Gaithersburg.

            -STEVE’S BEER AND WINE, 12132 Darnestown Rd., Darnestown, between 4:25 a.m. and 4:26 a.m. on 02-17-04.  Pried lock on door, money taken.

            -TRAVILAH OAKS BEER AND WINE, 12944 Travilah Rd., Potomac, at 4:35 a.m. on 02-17-04.  Pried lock on door, beer and money taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -10600 block of Tuppence Ct., Rockville, between 10:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Pried open door, safe and money taken.

            -14400 block of Rich Branch Dr., Gaithersburg, at 12:08 p.m. on 02-12-04.  Broke through door, unknown what was taken.

            -Unit block of Boat House Ct., Potomac, between 8:50 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. on 02-09-04.  Pried open door, checks and money taken.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -EXPRESSIONS HALLMARK and STORE, 11301 Rockville Pike, Rockville, between 9:47 p.m. on 02-14-04 and 10:00 a.m. on 02-15-04.  Pried door, money taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -4700 block of Willard Ave., Chevy Chase, between an unknown date in January 2004 and 8:30 p.m. on 02-14-04.  Entered home, money taken.

            -7500 block of Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, between 1:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 02-14-04.  Entered home, money taken.

            -10000 block of Frederick Ave., Kensington, between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Pried door, unknown what was taken.

            -3300 block of University Blvd., Kensington, between 9:20 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on 02-11-04.  Broke through door, computer and DVD taken.

            -4400 block of Edgefield Rd., Kensington, at 10:30 p.m. on 02-11-04.  Attempt only, kicked in door.

            -4600 block of DeRussey Parkway, Bethesda, between 9:45 a.m. and 6:58 p.m. on 02-12-04.  Pried open door, silverware taken.

            -10200 block of Meredith Ave., Silver Spring, between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on 02-16-04.  Entered home unknown means, money taken.

 

3rd  DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -CLEAR COMMUNICATIONS, 8311 Fenton St., Silver Spring, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 02-15-04.  Pried door, computer equipment taken.

            -GENTLEMEN OF DISTINCTION, 8429 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, between 4:00 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. on 02-15-04.  Pried lock on door, unknown what was taken.

            -SYNDICATED RESEARCH GROUP, 1738 Elton Rd., Hillandale, between unknown time on 02-13-04 and 9:30 a.m. on 02-14-04.  Pried lock on door, unknown what was taken.

            -SILVER SPRING CHECK CASHING, 8431 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, between 4:00 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. on 02-15-04.  Broke through wall, money taken.

            -ANDERSON SCOTT MORTGAGE GROUP, 1738 Elton Rd., Hillandale, between 7:30 p.m. on 02-13-04 and 8:13 a.m. on 02-14-04.  Broke through door, computer equipment taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -2900 block of Shepperton Terr., Silver Spring, between 9:00 p.m. on 02-11-04 and 6:40 a.m. on 02-12-04.  Pried door, money taken.

            -13700 block of Colgate Way, Briggs Chaney, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 02-11-04.  Attempt only, pried lock.

            -8700 block of Arliss St., Silver Spring, between 9:30 a.m. and 3:14 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Broke out window, computer equipment and X-Box games system taken.

            -400 block of Hillmoor Dr., Silver Spring, between 12:00 p.m. on 02-06-04 and 12:40 p.m. on 02-14-04.  Broke out door, television taken.

            -7900 block of Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, between 11:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Entered room, coat taken.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -SUNSHINE STORE, 22300 Georgia Ave., Brookeville, between 3:00 p.m. on 02-08-04 and 1:00 a.m. on 02-09-04.  Pried door, soda and money taken.

 

5th DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -20000 block of Frederick Rd., Germantown, between 12:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 02-11-04.  Broke through door, Playstation and DVD’s taken.

 

6th DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -LASIK PLUS, 9850 Key West Ave., Gaithersburg, between 1:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 02-17-04.  Pried open door, unknown what was taken.

            -CAPITAL WOMEN’S CARE, 9850 Key West Ave., Gaithersburg, between 1:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on 02-17-04.  Pried open door, unknown what was taken.

            -SOUTH LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Gaithersburg, between 4:15 a.m. and 4:35 a.m. on 02-13-04.  Broke out window, unknown what was taken.

            -DOLLAR & GIFTS, 814 Muddy Branch Rd., Gaithersburg, at 1:55 a.m. on 02-17-04.  Broke out window, phone cards taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -18300 block of Lost Knife Circle, Gaithersburg, between 2:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Entered home unknown means, jewelry, Playstation, money taken.

            -100 block of Summit Hall Rd., Gaithersburg, between 7:00 p.m. on 01-04-04 and 2:00 p.m. on 01-05-04.  Broke out through door, Nintendo game system and games, and DVD’s taken.

      -8300 block of Crooked Pine Ct., Gaithersburg, between 6:50 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on 02-13-04.  Entered home, jewelry and money taken.
