ARMED ROBBERY
-On
02-19-04, at 8:10 p.m., a 32-year-old Silver Spring man was the
victim of an armed robbery in the 1400 block of Hampshire West Court
in Silver Spring. Three suspects approached the victim. The first
suspect, who was armed with a handgun, went through the victim’s
coat pockets. The other two suspects stood by. The suspects were
last seen running towards Avenel Road. The first suspect was a
black male, 20-24 years, 5’7”, 160 pounds, wearing a black
sweatshirt and dark-colored pants. No further description was
provided for the remaining suspects.
-On 02-22-04, at 11:07 p.m., a
48-year-old Wheaton man was the victim of an attempted-armed robbery
in the 14800 block of Hammersmith Circle in Wheaton. Four suspects
approached the victim. The first suspect was armed with a shotgun.
They demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim did not have a
wallet. The suspects then ran away without obtaining any property.
The first suspect was a black male, 16-17 years, wearing a black
jacket. The second suspect was a Hispanic male. No further
description was provided for the remaining suspects.
-On
02-20-04, at 7:25 a.m., a driver for Barwood Taxi was robbed in the
12000 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. The suspect
knocked on the driver’s side window and stated he missed his bus.
The suspect got into the taxi, placed a gun to the victim’s head,
and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money,
the suspect left in an unknown direction. The suspect was a black
male, 20-30 years, 5’9”, 180 pounds, wearing dark-colored clothing.

02-20-04, at 8:10 p.m., the Randolph Beer and Wine Store, 5401
Randolph Rd., in Rockville, was the scene of an attempted-armed
robbery. The suspect approached the clerk, displayed a knife, and
demanded money from the register. The clerk grabbed the suspect’s
hand that was holding the knife and a struggle ensued. The clerk
then broke out a window and climbed outside. The suspect ran out
the front door without obtaining any property. The suspect was a
black male, 30-40 years, 6’0 “ to 6’1”, 230-240 pounds, black hair,
wearing a blue shirt and red warm-up pants.
ARMED
ROBBERY ARREST
-On
02-20-04, at 10:25 p.m., Malik McCoy, age 16, of the 4000 block of
Chesterwood Drive in Wheaton, and Bruno Smith, age 16, of the 14100
block of Grand Pre Rd. in Wheaton, were arrested and charged with
Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Theft Under $500,
and Second-Degree Assault. The arrests were the result of an
incident in the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue in Aspen Hill.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY
-On
02-18-04, at 4:30 p.m., a 14-year-old Wheaton male was the victim of
a strong-arm robbery in the 2500 block of Ennalls Ave., in Wheaton.
The suspect approached the victim and asked if he had any money.
The victim replied he did not have any. The suspect then punched
the victim and demanded money. The victim complied. The suspect
was last seen heading towards Grandview Avenue. The suspect was a
black male, 6’1”, thin build, wearing dark-colored clothing.

02-24-04, at 5:45 p.m., a 20-year-old Gaithersburg woman was the
victim of a strong-arm robbery in the 9200 block of Weathervane
Place in Gaithersburg. As the victim was walking three suspects
approached her. One suspect pushed her and grabbed her purse. All
three suspects were last seen running towards Stewartown Road. The
first suspect was a black male, 15-19 years, with a light
complexion. No further descriptions were provided for the remaining
suspects.

02-20-04, at 3:01 p.m., a 17-year-old Wheaton male was the victim of
a strong-arm robbery in the 2100 block of Randolph Road in Wheaton.
The suspect and ten other subjects approached the victim. They
began kicking and punching him. The suspect then removed the
victim’s shoes. The suspects left the area in an unknown
direction. The first suspect was a white male, 14 years, 5’8”, 140
pounds, wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans. The remaining
suspects were described as black males between the ages of 16 to
18.
-On
02-23-04, at 2:50 p.m., two 14-year-old Germantown males were
victims of a strong-arm robbery in the 12500 block of Wisteria Drive
in Germantown. Three suspects approached the victim from behind as
they were walking. One suspect demanded the first victim’s jacket
while the remaining suspects demanded the second victim’s jacket.
After obtaining the jackets, the suspect left the area in a black
Honda Civic with Maryland registration. The first suspect was a
black male, 20-30 years, 6’0”, wearing a blue shirt. The second
suspect was a black male, 20-30 years, 5’9”, thin build, wearing a
black jacket and black hat. The third suspect was a black male,
20-30 years, 5’10”, wearing a black jacket.

02-23-04, at 10:00 p.m., a 40-year-old Silver Spring woman was the
victim of an attempted strong-arm robbery in the 7900 block of
Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. One suspect approached the victim
from behind, grabbed her purse, and dragged her across the parking
lot. The second suspect stood by and watched. After a brief
struggle with the first suspect, both suspects ran on foot without
the purse. The first suspect was a Hispanic male, 20-30 years, 5’0”
to 5’5”, 180 pounds, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The
second suspect was a Hispanic male, 20-29 years, 5’4” to 5’8”, 180
pounds, wearing a blue jacket.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT
-On
02-20-04, at 9:30 p.m., a 17-year-old Silver Spring male was the
victim of an aggravated assault in the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive
in White Oak. The victim became involved in a verbal argument with
the suspect. The argument lead to a fight. The suspect pulled out
a knife and slashed the victim. The suspect was last seen running
towards Stewart Lane. The victim was treated and released at a
local hospital. The suspect was a black male, 23-27 years, 6’0” to
6’3”, 190-210 pounds, wearing blue/black jacket and black jeans.

02-21-04, at 5:35 p.m., a 21-year-old Laurel man was the victim of
an aggravated assault near Democracy Boulevard and Interstate 270.
The victim was attempting to remove a traffic barrel that was
blocking a lane of travel. The suspect began beeping his horn. The
victim walked back to the suspect to explain what was going on. The
suspect drove his vehicle around the victim’s vehicle and struck the
victim. The suspect then drove away. The suspect was described as
a black male. He was driving a 1996 teal Mazda with Maryland
registration.
-On
02-21-04, at 11:00 p.m., a 18-year-old Rockville man was the victim
of an aggravated assault in the 2000 block of Veirs Mill Road in
Rockville. The victim was involved in a fight with several
suspects. The victim was struck in the head with a golf club. The
suspects left in an unknown direction. No descriptions were
provided for the suspects.
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT/ARREST
-On
02-23-04, Evageline Ruff, age 53, of the 9800 block of Brookridge
Ct. in Gaithersburg, was arrested and charged with First-Degree
Assault and Destruction of Property. The arrest was the result of
an incident in the 9800 block of Brookridge Court.
BURGLARY/ARREST
-On
02-23-04, three 15-year-old and one 14-year-old Silver Spring
juveniles were arrested and charged with First-Degree Burglary,
Third-Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree Burglary, and Conspiracy to
Commit Burglary. The arrests were the result of an incident in the
800 block of Greenwood Circle in Silver Spring.
-On
02-23-04, Arthur Clipper, age 54, of no current fixed address, was
arrested and charged with Fourth-Degree Burglary and Trespassing.
The arrest was the result on an incident in the 800 block of Quince
Orchard Road.
