RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

March 7, 2005 

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 02-28-05 at 8:20 p.m., a 46-year-old Dominos Pizza delivery employee was making a delivery in the 19000 block of Mills Choice Road in Gaithersburg when he was approached by two suspects who displayed a handgun and demanded money, his personal property,  and the delivery. The employee complied and drove back to Dominos to contact police.
     Suspect #1 was described as an H/M, 18-25 years-old, 5’05”, 165-175 lbs., wearing a blue mask and hooded jacket.
     Suspect #2 was described as an Hispanic male, 18-25 years-old, 5’07”, 155 lbs., wearing a grey hooded jacket and ski mask, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 02-23-05 at 3:40 a.m., the CVS Store, 3715 University Blvd. W in Kensington was robbed by a lone suspect. The suspect entered the store posing as a customer. He passed a note demanding money. During the robbery, the suspect struggled with the store manager who was able to take the handgun away from the suspect causing him to flee without the money or the weapon. The suspect was described as an unknown race/M, 19-20 years-old, 5’06”-5’07”, thin build, wearing a black/grey jacket and ski mask, armed with a handgun. 

            -On 02-27-05 at 6:30 p.m., a 27-year-old Gaithersburg male was walking in the 400 block of E. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg when he was approached by a B/M, 17-18 years-old, 5’07”, wearing all black, armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded money. The victim did not have any, so the suspect walked away. 

            -On 02-27-05 at midnight, a 62-year-old Gaithersburg female had exited her vehicle in the 7900 block of Badenlock Way in Gaithersburg when she was approached by two suspects. Suspect #1 displayed a handgun and demanded her property while Suspect # 2 stood by. The victim complied. The suspects fled on foot.
     Suspect # 1 was described as a B/M, 16 years-old, wearing dark clothing armed with a handgun.
     Suspect #2 was described as a B/M, 16 years-old, wearing dark clothing.
          

 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY 

            -On 02-19-05 at noon, a 25-year-old Gaithersburg man was in the 200 block of N. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg when he was approached by a white mini-van occupied by two Hispanic males. After speaking to the victim, they pulled him into the van, drove a short distance, and demanded his personal property, before letting him out of the van. The victim responded to the police station to report the incident.
     Suspect #1 was described as an H/M, 20-30 years-old, 5’6”, 175 lbs., brown eyes, wearing a black baseball cap, blue/black button down jacket and grey jeans.

     Suspect #2 was described as an H/M, 23-24, 5’4”, no clothing description. 

            -On 02-21-05 at 9:10 p.m., a 46-year-old Silver Spring woman was in the area of Dunsinaine Drive and Tynewick Drive in the Bel Pre Area of Silver Spring when she was approached from behind and the suspect grabbed her purse, they struggled, and the suspect fled on foot with her purse and contents. The suspect was described as a B/M, 18-22 years-old, 5’07”-5’09”, 120-170 lbs., wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants and black shirt. 

            -On 02-17-05 at 11:10 p.m., a 21-year-old Bel-Pre Silver Spring woman was walking in the 3600 block of Bel Pre Road in the Bel Pre area of Silver Spring when she was approached from behind and the suspect grabbed her book bag. There was a brief struggle and the suspect fled on foot with her book bag and contents. The suspect was described as a B/M, 19-21 years-old, 5’10”-6’0”, 165-180 lbs., short hair, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. 

            -On 02-26-05 at 12:35 a.m., a 21-year-old Rockville man was at the Cuco Lindos restaurant at 8472 Piney Branch in Silver Spring when he got into a dispute with the suspect. The suspect struck the victim and took his money. The victim left the restaurant and contacted police. The victim described the suspect as an H/M, 20’s 5’8”, 160 lbs., wearing a hat, white sweater, and blue pants.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT 

            -On 02-28-05 at 12:44 p.m. a 20-year-old Damascus male was in a residence in the 25300 block of Angela Court in Damascus. He answered a knock and found two suspects standing at the door. The suspects asked for an unknown subject by name. The suspects then knocked the victim down and fired a handgun in his direction, and fled on foot.   The victim was not inured.
     Suspect #1 was described as a B/M, 17 years-old, 5’07”, 150 lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black skullcap, armed with a handgun.
     Suspect #2 was described as a W/M, 18 years-old, 5’09”, with a beard, also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black skullcap. 

            -On 02-20-05 at 2:00 p.m. a 40-year-old Forestville female was the victim of an aggravated assault inside the Target Store, located at 25 Grand Corner Avenue in Gaithersburg. The suspect is known, the investigation is continuing. 

            -On 02-23-05 at 6:30 p.m. a 20-year-old Germantown male reported he was in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road in Germantown when he was struck with beer bottles. The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspects. 

 

SEX ASSAULT 

            -On 02-27-05 at 4:00 a.m.  a 21-year-old Manassas woman reported she had been raped by a suspect she met at a bar in Washington, D.C. The victim reported she accepted a ride from the suspect and passed out in his vehicle. She woke up at a motel in Silver Spring disrobed. The suspect left to get something from his vehicle and never returned. The suspect was described as a B/M, 28 years-old, 5’07”, 140 lbs. 

            -On 02-21-05 at 3:00 p.m. a 23-year-old Gaithersburg female exited a bus in the Unit block of Montgomery Village Avenue and was approached by a suspect who grabbed her inappropriately.  The suspect was described as a W/M, 20’s, 5’4”, 130 lbs., wearing tan pants and a dark navy sweatshirt. 

            -On 03-03-05 at 10:50 a.m. a 45-year-old Rockville woman reported she had been raped inside her apartment. The victim had answered a knock at the door thinking it was a maintenance employee. The suspect was described as a W/M, 40-years-old, short blond hair, brown eyes, wearing a blue flannel shirt and blue jeans. The investigation continues.

 

SEX ASSAULT ARREST 

            -On 02-27-05 at 6:00 a.m., an 18-year-old Sandy Spring female reported she had been sexually assaulted at an address in Gaithersburg, MD.  Ian Quinn Lee Copeland, 20-years-old of no-fixed address was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Assault and 4th Degree Sex Offense.

 

BURGLARY ARREST 

            -On 02-26-05, a 16-year-old male from Derwood was arrested and charged with First-degree Burglary, Theft Over $500, Auto Theft, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.  The arrest is the result of an incident the previous day in the 7300 block of Grinnell Drive in Derwood. 

            -On 02-17-05, a 14-year-old Aspen Hill male was arrested and charged with First-degree Burglary and Theft Over $500.  The arrest is the result of an incident in the 14100 block of Grand Pre Ave. in Aspen Hill the same day.

            -11400 block of Dewey Road in the Randolph Farms area of Silver Spring, between 7:15 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. on 02-26-05.  Entry made, no force; nothing taken.

 

2nd DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -GABLES RESIDENTIAL, 4716 Bradley Blvd. in Chevy Chase, between 4:00 p.m. on 02-21-05 and 8:30 a.m. on 02-22-05.  Forced entry, nothing taken.

            -WATERFORD APARTMENTS, 3333 University Blvd. West in Kensington, between 9:30 a.m. on 02-19-05 and 9:00 a.m. on 02-22-05.  Forced entry, property taken. 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -4600 block of Saul Rd. in Kensington, between 3:30 a.m. on 02-17-05 and 12:00 p.m. on 02-22-05.  Entry made, no force; property taken.
