ATTEMPT CARJACKING 

            -On 03-02-04, at 9:15 p.m., a 29-year-old Silver Spring man and a friend pulled his vehicle into the parking space at the Giant in the 8700 block of Arliss St. when 3 Hispanic males in their late teens and wearing all black approached the car. One suspect wearing a hood said he “like the truck”. He pulled a knife and asked to use the truck. The victim simply drove away.

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-02-04, at 7:00 p.m., an 18-year-old Silver Spring man was walking home and was at Fairland Rd. and Musgrove Rd.  in the Deer Park sub-division of Silver Spring when 2 suspects approached him. The suspects (B/M, 5’9”-5’11”, 170-200 lbs., black ski mask, black coat, blue pants) tried to grab 2 bags from the victim both containing expensive shoes. One suspect displayed a knife. The victim jerked the bags away and began to run and said he was calling the police. The suspects ran off towards the homes in the Tanglewood Community.

            -On 02-29-04, at 8:00 p.m., a 44-year-old Silver Spring man was in a parking lot in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Rd. when he was approached by 2 black males. Both suspects were described as black males, 18-20 years-old, 5’9”, 150 lbs., black wool hat, black jacket, with black jeans. The suspects took cash and car keys from the victim. One suspect implied a gun. Both suspects then fled on foot towards Piney Branch Road.

            -On 03-03-04, at noon, 2 suspects broke into a home in the 8700 block of Gilbert Place in the Rolling Terrace sub-division of Silver Spring. When the victim opened the door, Suspect #1 (Hispanic/M, 28-30, 5’6”, 200 lbs., bald, blue jeans, red T-shirt with black and white stripes, gloves) displayed a knife and cut the victim. The suspects tied her up and took jewelry. The victim finally freed herself and called police. Suspect #2 was described as a Hispanic female, 35-38, 5’1”, 150 lbs., red bandana, black jeans, white sweatshirt with no hood, sunglasses, gloves, and tennis shoes.

            -On 03-03-04, at 1:15 a.m., a 22-year-old Silver Spring man was found on a porch in the 13400 block of Dauphine St. in the Harmony Hills sub-division of Aspen Hill with cuts on his hand and above his eye. The victim reported he was walking when someone approached him from behind and struck him and tried to take his money. He resisted and the suspects left with out obtaining any property. Suspect #1 was a black male 5’9”, 160-170 lbs., dark clothing. Suspect #2 was described as a black female, 5’0”, with black clothing.

            -On 02-26-04, at 8:00 p.m., a 23 year-old Silver Spring man was walking home on the sidewalk at Veirs Mill Rd. and Monterrey Dr.  in Wheaton, when 3 suspects approached him. The suspects hit him with a baseball bat and fists. They took his wallet and cash but left the cell phone. The victim called a friend and was taken by him to the local hospital. The suspects were described as Hispanic males, 18-20, 5’5”, 130-140 lbs., and blue jeans.

 

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/ ARREST 

            -On 02-29-04, Stuart Anthony Franklin age 43, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct. The arrest was a result of an incident in the 8600 block of Cameron St. in Silver Spring where the defendant threatened his girlfriend with a knife.
