RECENT CRIME SUMMARY

March 8, 2005

 

ARMED ROBBERY 

            -On 03-01-05, at 4:10 p.m., a 10-year-old Silver Spring youth was walking in the 3300 block of Briggs Chaney Rd. in Silver Spring when 4 suspects exited a vehicle and approached the victim.  Suspect #1 produced a handgun and asked for money. The victim had none so the suspects fled with no property. The vehicle was described as an older model Ford Explorer, 4 door and green in color.
            -Suspect # 1 and 2 – B/M, 25, 6’1”, 170 lbs., black ski mask, black jacket, blue jeans.
            -Suspect # 3 and 4 – B/M, 25, black ski masks. 

            -On 03-01-05, at 11:10 p.m., a cab driver for Independent Taxi in Kensington was robbed in the 10200 block of Kensington Parkway. Suspect #1 produced a large handgun. Suspect #2 displayed a wood stick. They demanded money. The victim said the money was in the car. The victim was knocked to the ground and suffered some minor injuries.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 30, 5’8”, 140 lbs., clean shaven, thin face, black sweatshirt with hood, dark pants and shoes.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 5’10”, 155 lbs., black jacket, ski mask with holes, medium complexion. 

            -On 03-03-05, at 8:40 p.m., the B&B Beer and Wine Store, located at 8403 Snouffer School Rd. in Gaithersburg was robbed. Two suspects entered the store and one was armed with a handgun. He demanded money. The victim complied. The suspects fled the store and entered a dark purple sporty type 4-door car. The suspect’s description was unknown. 

            -On 02-25-05, at 6:41 p.m., the Chevy Chase Bank, located inside the Giant Food at 842 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg was robbed. A lone suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The victim complied. The suspect then ran out the front door.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 5’8”, 180 lbs., beige baseball hat, light blue handkerchief.  

            -On 03-01-05, at 3:57 p.m., The Muddy Branch Beer and Wine store, located at 836 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg was robbed. Two suspects entered the store and jumped over the counter. Suspect #1 grabbed the clerk and demanded money. Suspect #2 grabbed the cash and both suspects ran out the back door.
            -Suspect #1 – B/M, 20s, 5’9”, 160-180 lbs., light color sweatshirt, dark color baseball cap, light skin, medium build.
            -Suspect #2 – B/M, 20s, 5’9”, 200 lbs., blue bandana, dark skin.

 

ATTEMPT ROBBERY/ARREST 

            -On 02-15-05, at 10:55 a.m., a 14-year-old Gaithersburg male was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery, 2nd degree Assault, and Conspiracy. The arrest was a result of an incident at Watkins Mill High School where the defendant and 2 male juvenile suspects attempted to rob a 15-year-old student.

 

BURGLARY

 

1ST DISTRICT 

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY 

            -2300 block of McCormick Rd. in Rockville, between noon on 02-26-05 and 11:23 a.m. on 02-27-05. Forced entry through window, liquor taken.

 

2ND DISTRICT 

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 

            -PALMER CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC, 11921 Rockville Pike, between 6:30 p.m. on 02-25-05 and 10:45 a.m. on 02-26-05. No forced entry, computer equipment taken.

            -BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, 9190 Rockville Pike, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on 02-27-05. Forced entry, electronics taken.
